We don't get much snow in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia but today, we may get a whopping one inch. During a drive just now, with very light flurries, I noticed a warning sign on the dashboard, "front radar blocked....." What? You people that live in snowy areas must see this all the time when it snows. So all of the advanced safety features that the radar is intended to provide, all eliminated by snow flurries? Wow.

Yeah I've had the same issue on all three of my past vehicles. I can't believe they haven't come up with a way to heat it to keep this from happening.

I was expecting the same thing driving across Kansas on Monday morning during a pretty bad snow storm because of everyones reports. Was totally fine, used adaptive cruse control and everything (would not recommend that in bad weather).

Same issue. Started yelling at me saying I was too close to something. Just snow accumulation on the sensors

need to ask
at what point do peeps want to stop complaining about the price of a new 4runner ?

Do you want a more advanced system that heats and cleans itself, add 3 grand to each 4runner for something that really only happens a few times a year for those who drive in snow....

Do you want a behind-the-glass system ? also 2-3 grand more.
Do you want camera and radar with intelligence add 4 grand.

Or do you just want to rely on your own safe driving skills when the weather is sour and
save some cost for the 4runner ?..and oh my gosh stop and clean it off once in a while

The 'weatherized' systems are not cheap, and if you want it weatherized and immune from
errors when covered with ice, snow, dirt, it's gonna cost a boatload more

sorry if I am rustling people jimmies but FFS if it tells you to clean the sensor, then clean it.

Well for FFS, it is difficult to do that when rolling down the highway. The point is that I would not expect very light snow flurries to shut down the radar. Heavy snow, yes, light, almost not even snowing, no.

And if I pulled over to wipe off the sensor, the same thing would happen the moment I started driving, so you are entirely missing the point.

That said, I would not want to pay more for heated elements. I do agree with you on that point. Many people complain about the price and then in the same breath, the lack of a heads up display, that is not what is going on here. The purpose of my post was to learn if I am the only one that this has happened to......FFS. LOL

I Have also experienced this. Its frustrating, but I get it, just as snow impacts our ability to see, it makes sense it impacts a camera/sensors ability to see. Its nice you can switch to use "manual" cruise control instead of adaptative. My Subaru forester, its Adaptive Cruise or bust. The part that annoys me, is after you cancel or acknowledge the warning about the blocked sensors, it will pop right back up 10 seconds later. So you can't actually look at any of the other info screens like traction, Tire Pressure etc...

At what point are you going to stop foisting your opinion on people? Which in all honesty, nobody wants.

Snark is fine, but when you start talking down to people, thinking you’re the expert on all topics and expecting everyone to think and behave like you, it’s all a bit too much.

If you don’t like what people are thinking and saying on this forum, feel free to not comment and delete the app. We don’t need any more “know it all keyboard warriors.” This forum is supposed to be a place to exchange ideas, get information and learn. Not a place to try to bully your way around and satiate your narcissistic behavior.

No need to respond, but I have a feeling you will

I am not missing the point. in inclement weather you do not rely on the automated systems, you need to drive and steer and brake like...pay attention to driving.

it right there in the manual
