The switch is what sends power to the relay to tell it to close the high power circuit so your accessory turns on, that power can't originate from the relay itself.

The circuit breaker isn't strictly needed, but protects the rest of the electrical system from the non oem stuff you're installing.

Ah ok. I thought you just attached connector with all the red power lines directly to the battery.

Like I said, it's not strictly necessary and you could run straight to the battery, but it's safer to have the fault protection. You could also run something like a midi or mega fuse instead of a breaker.
