Platinum 12 volt battery

Checked my 12 volt battery voltage and it was 12.1 volts. Also noticed it was very low on water in most cells..1 to 2 inches below low level mark on battery. Visible through simi translucent battery case. After some internet search found out that it might be the wrong battery. Battery is referred to as a flooded battery and should be a AGM type according to Toyota. I was going to just fill the low cells and be done with it but doing so is a teal job. Battery must be pulled to remove caps, too much to mess with on a truck 9 months old. Made an appointment at dealer to resolve problem.. just curious if anyone else have noticed this with their battery? Additionally when driving the battery indicator on dash has been on the low side meaning the battery charge indicator was just at the minus marking and never went to middle between minus and plus markings.

I didn't look closely, but I've seen more than a few photos of flooded batteries in the 4Runner.

Distilled water only should be added to the cells and I'd fully charge the battery first, and then evaluate level.

I am confused due to lack of detail in the original post. Which model.... Hybrid or not? I assume not as my battery in an SR5 is easy to get to. I also have a windows and color coded indicator to check the level. Red dot and Blue circle is OK.

I see the battery is made in Japan by Yaesu, a known good brand. However, when calling dealers in the US, looks like we have a different battery, part number, etc.

Platinums do not ship with AGM batteries, Like most other 4Runner trims, it comes factory-equipped with a conventional flooded lead-acid or Enhanced Flooded Battery (EFB)
