So I have an SR5 mall crawler with Falken Wild peaks, 285/70/R17 and a 2 inch lift. The place that did the install removed the mudflaps and said they were unable to modify them so that they don’t rub. The tires stick out maybe 2-3 inches past the fenders. I live in the Seattle area. So when the roads are even slightly wet the tires kick up so much water that my 4runner looks pretty nasty most of the time. I’m wondering if there are any ideas to make the existing setup work a bit better without getting so excessively dirty. Are there perhaps alternative mud flaps I could buy or would larger fender flares make much of a difference?

mudflaps is the least of your issues with this setup.

the offset is wrong on the wheels so they poke out too far past the bodywork.

you can mitigate it with oversized wheel arches but you might as well get use to it unless you change your wheels.

@ThunderKev What is the offset on your wheels?

The RokBloks have a "high clearance" style and an "XL" size that might fit your needs. I'm planning on going bigger tires and hoping these will work: https://rokblokz.com/collections/to...ff-road-6th-gen-2025-high-clearance-mud-flaps

- HIGH CLEARANCE FLAPS mount outside the wheel well for those who run lifts, larger tires and/or higher offset wheels that poke past the fenders and are tight on space inside the wheel well.
- XL is about 1" wider and slightly longer for those who run lifts and/or higher offset wheels that poke past the fenders. SEEN ON THE TRUCK IN THE PHOTOS With 3.5" lift, 295/70R17 Mickey Thompsons on 17" KMC IMS wheels in -10 offset.

Rough country has fender flares that stick out further and go lower down

Hey Guys,

I’m building a 2026 underground soon, and my builder informed me that the mudflaps won’t work with the extended fender flares. I’m planning to install Falken AT4s with 33-inch tires. Based on what I’ve heard, if you have the extended flares, they should provide sufficient coverage, eliminating the need for the mudflaps. I’m hopeful that this is the case! Do you have any thoughts on this?

i like the sport version of these, w/o the rivets

and pay a little more for factory painted color matching.
