It's usually a good idea to wait a bit on the ceramic coating after new paint. The paint needs to set and cure, usually 30 to 90 days.
At least from what the dealer told me, the hood will be baked and ok to polish and coat within a day or two. If they didn't bake it, then yes I would agree: wait a couple weeks.

I would be suspicious of that. That's not what is the general rule of thumb, baked or not. But if they'll guarantee it in writing you might be fine.

Yeah, I try to get everything in writing. That being said, if my detailer says it smells like paint once he starts to polish, then he'll stop and we'll wait.

As a "We're sorry we didn't catch this during PDI", at least the dealer is throwing in the Aux pig tails for free...so there's that.

My 4Runner came with those pig tails in the back with the med kit, just FYI. I wouldn't let them gain too much grace for giving you those.

Apparently, this dealer doesn't normally include them, but they ordered them and included them. Ideally, I would've liked some cross bars and/or a skid plate, but I think I can get those for a better price elsewhere. After watching how this dealer test-drove my trade-in, I am less inclined to do anymore business with them once I take delivery.

I hear you. I drove 3 hours away to get mine $4600 under MSRP, but would never go back there. They were not happy selling at that price and it shows.

I was able to get $100 off MSRP simply because I said I didn't want the all-weather floormats, but they included them "for free" after giving me that "discount". #facepalm Oh well, at least since I bought from them, they offer a lifetime engine warranty for free: yes, I verified, it's true. So according to the dealer, so long as I have the vehicle, they'll replace the engine should anything go wrong, even at 150K miles.

For those that notice the "orange peel" on the bottom of the doors, just know that is normal. Toyota puts extra layers of paint there for protection since that's where a lot of rocks will kick up when driving. It's not a defect.

Outside of that, modern vehicle paints are pretty poor given cost cutting (thinner layers) and government environmental regulations (forcing water-based paints to lower VOC). The old days of tougher, thick, solvent-based paints are unfortunately gone. Personally I picked white to hide swirls and small scratches, and did front PPF plus a DIY ceramic coating/wax on the rest to help. I also expect to be trying Dr. Colorchip for paint repairs too. Overall I don't expect a major failure but I do think the new coatings are easier to scratch and chip.
