Loud popping noise when you open up the power rear hatch.

I’m wondering if this is normal. It scared the crap out of me when I first opened it up and it’s still doing it after 1000 miles I wonder if the weatherstripping is sticking or this is just normal.

Sounds like mine, think it's just a big moving piece inside an enclosed cabin is all.

Normal. Basically the same as the pop you get if you open a manual hatch--it is the latch opening against the spring/latch pressure, probably in addition a solenoid mechanism which would add a bit more noise.
