Looking to disable the horrible seatbelt alarm. Is there any cheap aliexpress OBD machines that you guys have found working for this purpose? I do not want to have to pay for the Carista and subscription when I am only changing one setting. Thanks for the advice.

I was seeing $70 + subscription online. I wasn't sure that there was a free trial, that may come in handy. Regardless, any chance to avoid paying a subscription is preferred so I could keep the tool around the house as needed in the future.

You can get it for around $20. Here's how:

1. Get a 1-month subscription to the app for $15. Remember to cancel (link: https://carista.com/en-us/products/carista-obd2-app-subscription?selling_plan=691344572739)

2. Get a cheap OBD2 Bluetooth adapter on Amazon here: https://amzn.to/45GPSUy

That's it. You download the app, plug in the obd2, connect the app to car, then disable the chimes & whatever else. It's a permanent change afterwards, and no need to keep the app or the adapter plugged in. You don't need to keep the app for it to work. I did this for many friends & family Toyota lol.

Another alternative is have your dealership disable those but, YMMV. They may do for free or at a cost

This is perfect. Thank you for the excellent advice. I thought you would need to use Carista's adapter with their app.

if you buy carista dongle, usually they throw in a month sub (have to clarify this, if you you get the expensive dongle you get a month sub, the cheap one doesnt)

if you get the cheap adapter its like a month sub $15 + $30 for the adapter

if you go the upgraded adapter it an additional $20-$30 for the total package.

just get the white cheap adapter

Were you able to personally use that adapter? I keep getting an error saying the vehicle is not responding. Maybe it’s a bad unit?

I've been using it for years with no issue. You have to initiate the connection in the app, not your phone. Carista will find the adapter, pair to it and talks to it.
