Holy cow Snow Tires are expensive

Just put on Nokian Hakkapeliitta’s lt3 $1650 for four studded and mounted. Looked online and there did not seem like too many studded snows for the 4 runner in stock. I knew the price but still shocking when I paid. Dumping snow today so happy to have them .

i personally never run dedicated snow tires in ND. if its that bad, i just stay home, and i can afford to take vacation days easily without issue.

only twice i have turned around driving to base and said, yeah this isnt worth it.

here is a dashcam video trying to goto work 1 morning where i got about 1/3 way to base and turned around.

1st stop @ 12:40 was checking to see if the road was closed and if there was any base closure.

resumed down the road at 14:39.

@ 18:06 passed a car stuck in a snow pillow, didnt see anyone inside, kept going.

@18:30 is the last reference turn around i knew of, the sign was a business, the next reference point was about 4-5 miles down the road with a bar/gas station trailer court just outside the base.

at this point i was doing only about 5-10 mph at most.

at one point @19.16 i was using the rumble strips on the side of the road to figure out where the road was.

i finally saw a street sign that indicated a turn around @ 23.55 used it and went back home.

Great tire choice they will take you anywhere. Studs were probably not even needed, but you will be able to stop on ice.
