I just checked mine and it has the same part number on it.

The video I linked above suggested that not all of these trackers are hooked up via the OBD port. It discusses that these systems all seem to have a common fuse known as the DCM ( or DCM/Mayday) fuse. It also says that pulling this fuse does have some side effects as Toyota tied other specific features into the system to deter owners from simply pulling the fuse. One feature they mention is the in car microphone.

I am not familiar with any of these trackers and have no idea if any of the information in the video is accurate.
The dcm is not a third party tracker like those installed by dealerships. It’s the connectivity module that powers toyota connected services etc.

I did some digging into this and found there are some privacy settings in the Toyota connected app that you can decline such as, “insure connect” and “service connect” that transmits tons of your data to third parties, insurance companies and dealers. I just updated my settings and Toyota sent an email acknowledging my updated preferences.

Just checked and my app says Vehicle connectivity is "Deactivated". I didn't turn on any of the connect services when I purchased it. When I click into the services is says at the top "Toyota does not receive your vehicles location, driving, or vehicle health data and is unable to provide this vehicle with connected services"

Works for me!

Yeah there are ways to get out of the data being sent to Toyota. Also depending on the state you live in may have incredible protection due to states privacy laws. opting out of data sharing and then requesting data to be deleted are an option depending on the state.

If you never agreed to connected services they would have a large lawsuit on their hands if they collected Data and worse if they sold it.

Data privacy laws are something everyone should be aware of what what their state/county covers.

And more importantly, the DCM can be completely disabled and the antenna outputs dummy loaded with a proper DCM bypass harness, as I plan to do. The harness maintains all of the interconnected systems and components 100% functional.

Take a look at my post#11 on this thread. When I installed the DCM bypass, it looked like everything worked until I went for a drive and had GPS glitching problems.

Please let me know if you can get it to work!

I don't care nor have any desire to use the dumb ass GPS Toyota graced us with. I will not be investigating its functions before or after I install the bypass. The harness will be installed day one and I will not create a Toyota account or take advantage of any trial services. I'd expect it wouldn't work since even this basic GPS function seems to be dependent on Toyota's Connected Services.

Totally with you on this. I did not sign up for connected services or set up an account either. My main point is that using CarPlay with the bypass harness and the DCM unplugged, CarPlay is looking for GPS location info from the head unit as opposed to the phone GPS. It appears that the GPS location info going to the head unit comes from the DCM via the CanBus. If the DCM is disconnected, it can't send anything on the CanBus - CarPlay gets confused since it is programed to pull GPS info from the head unit when connected to a vehicle. In this case the head unit does not have info to feed it. So, long story short, I had to disconnect the bypass and replug in the DCM - at that point everything worked again....

So, I am struggling on figuring out how to feed GPS info to CarPlay....

If you can get it to work, I am all ears...

Well, i don't know about CarPlay. The harness works as intended in my friend's Rav4, a different vehicle, flawlessly, however. I will not be troubleshooting CarPlay as I own an Android smartphone.

If you (or anyone) finds out how to remedy this, please update the thread. I'd like to get this bypass, but if it's going to mess with CarPlay, then maybe not.

There are also reports that the dcm bypass harness breaks the microphones used for phone calls

Properly assembled and connected, this is false. The purpose of the bypass is to keep the microphone and speakers functional. It's expressly why they exist.
