I got my trd pro last month and I’m debating if I should get a full front PPF or use that money to just get a roof rack. Just wanted to know is it worth getting the PPF? I’ll eventually do light trails, camping, and going up to the mountains for snowboarding.

Hey there. Check out this thread. I have a black Pro and I’m getting a full body PPF. Worth it for me and I think a full front would be the next best thing. Good luck and hope you’re loving your Pro!

Honestly, I think it is. WA state has a ton of rocks and gravels on the roads, especially on the passes on the way to the ski areas, and I just want my stuff looking as good as possible. It isn't cheap, but I found a very reputable local shop that was able to do a full front PPF, using Stek DYNOshield, for 2k.

Yeah I wanted the Sherpa roof rack and it’ll be around the same price but I’ll look at the prices around my area for the front PPF and probably just do that first. Thank you

Okay sounds good. Thank you. Yeah, I definitely love the car. I just want to drive it everywhere haha
It’s definitely worth the investment man. $2k now to protect or probably more than that down the road for to fill in the chips and other paint damage. If you can swing it, I’d highly recommend it.

I went full and feel like it's worth it. I go to a wand wash near my place to wash it. I start by pressure washing the soap brush and 4runner. Then I proceed to go to town on it with the brush. No worries about scratching, super easy to clean and if you keep your vehicles for a while, then the cost easily justified IMO.

That’s a nice looking pro! Thanks for your input. A full PPF would probably be way above my budget. I have a white 4Runner so I’m a little worried about the film getting yellow or dirt lines along the edges and how well it really protects the paint in the long run. Especially if I just get a full front PPF. Like once you need to remove it will some of the paint come off? And you would have to spend extra for another film if there’s a tear or rock chips going through the film?

Thanks, I'm loving it!!

Full front end is a good idea and I would suggest getting the rear door and fender covered as they will take a beating. Sliders would also help protect the rear.

As for yellowing, from what I've been told, the early days of PPF had some issues. these days, if you stick with the name brands like Xpel, Llumar etc, you should be good to go. Most have pretty good warranties now. As for damage to the PPF, a white vehicle is nice for hiding imperfections you could get with the PPF, whether is be rocks or a tear. Good thing about the new runner is the front end has so many individual pieces that it shouldn't be too expensive replacing a piece here and there. Especially if you stick with the same shop, build a good relationship with them and refer people to them.

Removing it is safe, just get a steamer and go at it. I'm Sure there are other tricks of the trade on YouTube, but my guy uses a steamer.

Looks fantastic! I pick up my Black Pro tomorrow with full Stealth Xpel as well. Based on your pics, it was a good decision! Can’t wait!
