So I have been waiting impatiently for someone to build a front hitch. In the past, I have used it for my fishing rod rack, which frees up the back hitch for a tray to put all the sandy stuff on.

I also pull my boat with the back hitch. It dawned on me that when I hook up the lights, it changes the setting to trailer mode, which then disables or mitigates the sensors in the back. Is this the issue impeding a front hitch?

If I had to guess, probably. Maybe companies are concerned about liability or there being no native way to turn off all the sensors and systems. On the other hand, there are other modern vehicles where front hitch points are offered. Is the 6th gen 4Runner unique among them, or is still too new?
