if you dont have a hybrid i can understand the trickle charger, on hybrids its a tad more complicated since the 12v battery is inside the vehicle rear.

I connect under the hood which is how I've charged or maintained all of my other vehicles ever.

so you are charging the 12v battery in the rear interior hatch via the engine bay?

i dont see a procedure to charge the 12v battery from the engine bay in the manual. i see the procedure to jump start the hybrid system via the engine bay if the 12v battery is discharged which in turn can charge the 12v battery, but nothing about charging a 12v battery.

the only procedure i see in the manual to charge the hybrid 12v battery is to connect to it directly via the interior rear hatch cover panel.

Yes, that is what I did, for 12 hoursor so overnight after i first got it.
