Hey all!

So I’ve ALWAYS wanted a 4Runner and was initially planning on waiting until next year to pick one up..

However, my finances are pretty solid at the moment so I figured it couldn’t hurt to go “window shop” a 6th gen.

Long story short - after a few visits to local dealers and some minor haggling, I was able to put a deposit in on an incoming SR5! I (luckily) managed to get 1k off sticker and got all of the accessories I was leaning towards.

I was torn between two dealers, both were offering extremely similar numbers and it came down to Ice Cap vs Underground. Ultimately decided on the latter and couldn’t be more excited!

I apologize for the premature rant, just super excited to have my dream vehicle incoming! They told me it’s “currently on the boat” and has an estimated delivery of mid-October/early November. It’s going to be one long month! Has anyone here actually had theirs delivered earlier than the estimate?

Thanks!

boat ride is not the issue, its the port processing (pio stuff takes 1-2 weeks) railcar to a location closer to the dealer (this takes 1-3 weeks usually) then transport to dealer by semi (1-3 days)

If they are in central/eastern PA, it will likely get trucked from NYC to PA.

My delivery dates changed 2-3 times. Once when it hit the port, once after it cleared customs, and again when it was scheduled for a truck.

All in all, 20 days from arrival at NY port to pickup at the dealer in rural VA.

Nice! 20 days sounds better than a month! And I am near central PA 👍🏻

Just watch the dates on Toyotas site or the spreadsheet and you kind of gauge what phase it is in. If you are really bored, you can stalk the boat with some luck (find Japan flagged carrier that left Toyohashi port and headed for the Panama canal in your time frame). You won't know the boats destination until it is through the canal, and then it is likely to stop in Jacksonville first before heading to NYC.

just a reminder, boats from japan either go thru portland oregon for toyota usa dealers west of the Mississippi (not a hard fast rule)

GST also goes thru portland oregon for port of entry (which is kinda weird from what i can find)

SET goes thru jaxport

toyota usa dealers east of the Mississippi goes thru newark.

here is full shot of the port

kinda interesting that the railcar loading area is on the other side of I-78 (long yellow circle), there is an under pass at Doremus Ave (circled in yellow) and the port unload side is actually pretty long (yellow cirle)

not sure what the other holding lots are for or if that is all for toyota and the multiple 3rd part transport carriers.

the buildings in red i am guessing are the PIO centers for port installed options.
