Just wanted to note here, because I saw someone post somewhere that their insurance company suggested they needed to get the Tag system - I got the same line from my insurance company and when I said I installed the Ghost immobilizer, that was acceptable to them as well. It just has to be a certified installation.

The 2024 Tacoma is on the Top 10 stole most stolen in Ontario and, I saw it on CAA’s list when I uploaded the proof of installation. The agent said that although the 2025 4Runner is not top 10, its also too soon to make that determination, hence the reason they make it a requirement to have one installed.

Double checking - going to get IGLA installed next week - for anyone that had that or similar installed - no issues to date? Install went well?

I have IGLA and have not had issues. Feel free to ask questions.

*Edit* - I remember one thing, instead of the gas pedal, activate the high beam to program the IGLA.

Much appreciated! I think I’ve learned as much as I can about how the system works in theory, but wanted to confirm in real world example with a 4R.
Regarding your comment about the high beam - like add the high beam into the code or some thing to mention to the installer?

The gas pedal is mentioned as a "button" to use during a few procedures, instead on the 4runner you have to pull the high beam. This is only for a few tasks and not related to normal operation. Look at the second link I posted to understand what that means.

Also I was able to enable\disable anti-carjacking myself after syncing the device to the author connect 2.0 app on my phone. Among other settings. I don't recommend using the button on the shifter for anything since when in drive, that button didn't seem to register :). When the anti carjacking feature turns on its quite scary haha.

Extremely helpful thanks so much.

I had the IGLA installed and had a couple issues to share. Overall I'm happy with it and would definitely recommend getting it installed. But a few things to be aware of:

Be very careful inputting the code buttons, the installer will probably coach you on it, but after you first hit the ignition before you authorize, wait till all the startup chimes are done before you put in the code. Put in the code slowly and make sure you get the acknowledgement flash/beeps before you hit the ignition button again. The buttons can be a little finicky so make sure you press em good. Be really careful with remote start too - same thing, take it slow when entering the code.

I had an issue a couple times where I rushed it a bit, not waiting long enough after the initial chimes/flashes to finish before putting in the code, or hitting the ignition too quickly after authorizing and this caused a bunch of Toyota error messages on he dash. Basically put the truck into limp-home-mode and turning it off and trying to re-authorize did not work.

If something like that happens to you, all you have to do is turn the truck off, disconnect the battery for ~7min and then reconnect it - this clears the codes and you're good to re-authorize and go.

Quite inconvenient if it happens, but now that I'm much more careful about entering the code and being patient I have not had any issues. It is a little annoying to put in a code every time you drive but not as bad as waking up to an empty driveway.

This is great thanks for sharing! So part of this as well I assume is ensuring the code you choose is using buttons or whatever that are distinct vs potentially vague (ie. Aux 1 button vs volume toggle on the steering wheel). Does it only give you one chance to enter the codes an start up before it goes into limp mode?
