Mine has started to do this - first heard it last week. It isn’t every time but it’s there. Wonder if it is from summer heat?

Thanks for letting me know. Bummer for both of us. Hopefully yours doesn’t become consistent.

Sounds like your dealer doesn’t really want to deal with it. I’d Find another dealer to take it to.

Yeah, there's only two dealers near me and they both kind of suck (IMO). I went there again this past Saturday and showed them that it's still making the noise and it's still at their shop (over 30 days now). Not the quality I expected in a $60k vehicle. Also not the level of stand-behind-your-product kind of service I expected from Toyota.

Sadly it’s exactly what I’d expect from Toyota. From my experience they’re stubborn AF until many people begin to report an issue. Then and only then do they admit fault.

I remember as a kid, the power sliding doors broke on my mom’s 04 sienna. Toyota did nothing, granted it was likely out of warranty. A year or so later, we got a notice in the mail about Toyota admitting there was a problem and doing a warranty enhancement to fix them.

Then there was the melting dashboard issue that took many complaints to get resolved.

Bumping this thread to see if anyone else has experienced this and found a solution. I reached out to Toyota Corporate and they had a Field Engineer take a look and try to fix it. The noise was better for a few days but now it's back with a vengeance. I've been to the shop 7+ times for this and it's still not fixed. Hoping someone knows a solution.

I don't mind 1st year remodel issues, as long as they get fixed but this is getting ridiculous. My $60K Japan-made 4runner really just feels like crap quality. Starting to regret buying Toyota.

FWIW, mine stopped doing it - I’m not sure why. Maybe when cold weather comes back more will happen but it’s been solid and quiet since my last post roughly 2 months ago.

So mine is back again. I've already spent 2 months and 7-8 trips to the dealer trying to get this fixed. Toyota Customer Service was no help either. The build quality on this truck is driving me bonkers and I'm really starting to regret my purchase.

Anyone else have this issue and find a solution?

they way you are presenting it, it seems the door handle is squeaking not the door itself.

you sure its not the pivot point arm between the "A" pillar body attach point and the actual door?

i mean if they forgot the grease on the attach pivot arm and that plastic is rubbing i can see it squeaking.

but otherwise the way you present it, its the door handle squeaking.

i am just trying to figure out where the actual squeak is coming from, not trying to be a smarta$$ or siding with toyota.

It also makes the noise if you push pretty much anywhere in the middle of the door panel (to the left of the TRD badge, to the left of the door lock/handle area, and where the switches are. Basically anytime the panel flexes it squeaks. It doesn't make the sound if the window is down though.

The dealer has already replaced the panel, added foam inside, and did some spot welding inside. Nothing seems to fix it and Toyota won't just replace the door.

so that sounds like a missing mount insert (or something close to it) inside the door then that is tied to the door handle mount points

sorta reminds me of the tundra seat squeak, if you push in the middle of the seat it squeaks, it was missing a better support bar to remove that squeak from what was found i think. it could also be a mount point was not tightened down correctly.
