Dip stick tube corrosion

Just noticed corrosion on the dip stick tube and a couple of brackets on my 25 4Runner engine. 9,000 miles. Driven in snow/salt for a few days prior and during drive from Michigan to Florida. Been in Florida for 3 months now. Any ideas why this tube would corrode like this? Fix?

Very unusual! I don’t live in the rust belt so I’ve never seen anything like this. Hopefully someone with more experience can chime in.

If that rust was not there before you left for Florida and now after 3 months in Florida you are seeing it, perhaps it is from the salt air (assuming you are near the Gulf or Atlantic coast).

That might explain the cause. I have no idea of what to do about it. Someone in an auto parts store might have some type of rust arrest solution that would be safe to use around the engine.

that looks bizarre to me. I am in the salt belt and don't wash my vehicles much, and my '99 4runner, 2013 tacoma dipstick tubes still have all the paint all the way down to the pan.

if 2025 4runner corrodes that easily, it is an anomaly

I wonder if brake fluid got splashed on that ?

at any rate, dribble acf-50 on it or fluid film and it will stop the corrosion.

ohhh...if you drove thru wet concrete dribble and it splashed up...that would do it.

Thanks! Great feedback. I’m gonna talk to the dealer and we’ll report back to those that care what I find out. What’s interesting if you see the bracket to the left, that’s corroded also. There is one on the passenger side of the engine. That’s also corroded.

Also, only service to date has been two oil changes.

Been driving on salty roads since November up here in Canada. Got a bit of salt deposits in the engine bay and on the dipstick tube but no corrosion.
