Oh it was so terrible I gave up on it a week after using it.
Then it uninstalled itself from my app, presumably out of retaliatory spite for my rejection of its love.

Toyota is good at many things, new technology isn't one of them, and by new I mean new ten years ago ... it can't even remember the audio source half the times I restart my car, I'm not going to trust it to let me into my car and drive it with my phone.

So mine failed today on my 2026 trail Hunter that I've had in my possession for exactly 14 days. I was stranded at my office and had to get a ride home to get the key fob. I've opened a case with Toyota. How in the world are they allowed to sell this feature? I waited 90 days to get this particular vehicle for this exact feature. What a freaking joke.

Learned my lesson when it comes to Toyota and software. The number of the features on my wife's Rav4 don't work because Toyota stopped supporting their apps on the radio. Now when the fuel light comes on and the radio asks if it should list the best prices for gas near by it fails to work. I'm fine with switching to Android Auto and CarPlay on newer vehicles but to just stop supporting past versions is a dick move. So now I will not pay for any service like the digital key.
I've been happy with Toyota Drive Connect and Toyota Remote Connect (Go Anywhere). My complimentary 1 year subscription expired a month ago and now I'm paying $15/month.

Update: Dealer took the vehicle and did a reset of the connection on my head unit. It did not fix the issue. The dealer has since spoken with the Toyota Engineer for our region, and he wants to see this error himself when he's in town in a few weeks. I will keep everyone apprised of the situation here.

toyota's implementation is woefully lackng vs everyone else.

the best i could get was roughly 10 days before my phone/app would lose the handshake key generated.

would have to uninstall the app and re-install the app then redownload a new handshake key. repeat ad nausem.

just went back to the fob as we dont have the luxury to deal with it, especially me since i need to be able to get off base after work and i exactly cant have someone drive to back to base that doesnt have credentials to get on base.

My digital key works fine. I only use it to auto start my rig from time to time bc the distance on the digital key for auto start is far superior then from the key fob and much faster then 3 clicks and hold. (My biggest complaint about Toyota)

So I don't believe you're talking about digital key. Digital key works on Bluetooth and you have to be very close to your car to make it work. I think what you're talking about is just starting the vehicle from the Toyota app which is different than digital key.
