Considering the 2.5" OEM TRD suspension kit, but honestly I am not sure I want to put anymore money into this truck. I can't put my finger on it, but after a year of ownership, I like the vehicle, but I don't love it. It just feels like it's not special. After 12 years with my 5th gen (still sitting in my driveway) I just can't get myself to feel the same way about this one... Every time I look at my 5th gen it brings a smile to my face. This one... not so much. I will say I hate driving the 5th gen now though.

It feels smaller inside, the flip forward seats are a horrible design choice, the fender flares don't fit flush and it constantly pisses me off, the 4cyl feels kinda gutless on the top end and the shifting from 1-2-3 when its cold is just janky. ORP suspension is way too stiff for city driving comfortably. The cabin materials just feel cheap esp for a $58k truck. Backseat leg room is wayyy smaller than 5th gen. Every time I see a LC250 I am just reminded that I have the uglier version of the same truck. Idk if I'll keep this one much longer tbh. Thinking maybe a slight lift might change the way I feel about it but idk if that's worth it. Just thinking out loud lol.

I made the mistake of selling my Tundra to the guy that owns the house at the entrance to my neighborhood. I see it almost every day and MAN do I miss it.

I really dig my 4Runner and I'm not sorry I bought it. But that Tundra had me looking back at it for 13 years.

You nailed it. It's the 'look back at it' factor. It's unquantifiable. When I work out in my garage, I have both front ends looking at me, and I legit don't know how I am ever going to sell the 5th gen to buy a baby hauler. It's too good looking. I just know I would regret selling it. I may end up with 3 cars and a lot more debt because of this šŸ˜‚ I wish I had a kid 16 years ago so I could hand it down lmao

TRD 2.5" Suspension Kit ( PTCCY-89310 ) installed. Got about 2.7" in the front. 1.5" in the back. Rides much smoother on bumpy roads at low and high speed. Not really any noticeable increase in the body roll.

Thanks! Yeah actually was thinking about that recently after seeing someone on here do it with their Everest ORP. If I could do it for less than $1500 I would strongly consider it but OEM ones are over 2k I think
I got the exact same ORP and color last Nov. It’s my first 4Runner and haven’t changed anything yet (two kids in college atm 😩). I appreciate you detailing your journey and love the build. Have you checked out the color matched fender flares on Rough Country for $730? Says they add an additional 1.75ā€ to the flare depth. Would seemingly address the tire poke you mentioned bothering you on another post. Not sure if it would then feel too wide in stance. I think I’d need to do at least wheels first or at the same time so it doesn’t look dumb with the OEM wheels (which I hate). Either way, a grand for those color matched flares is pretty dang reasonable.

I looked at them but they’re too wide for my taste. I previously had the trd pro wheels with the 20mm offset and those were too wide so I switched to method wheels in 35mm offset (narrower) and I’m happy with the setup currently. I would love some body colored OEM flares though. Maybe next time there’s a sale on parts…
