I finally got my Trailhunter after a 4 month wait. And lo and behold, I went to put my hanging bar in the 2nd row for a solo road trip this weekend and come to find that Toyota didn't put any in the 2nd row. In a $70,000 vehicle! These have been included in cars since, what, the 1960s? What in the actual hell?? Anyone have any solutions? Yes I saw them in the rear end, and used them this weekend, but my dog usually hangs out back there, with my ARB fridge. Not a great solution. Thanks in advance.

Toyota did not install coat hangers next to side curtain airbags due to safety concerns. They do not want projectiles to hit passengers. There are coat hangers in the rear cargo area.

Ahhhhh, now it makes sense!!! Damn. I need that second row hanging space for roadtrips with only 2 people!

Not airbags but hooks. Because it seems odd to not have them in second row for "safety" but have them near the 3rd row. Now if they only have hooks on non 3rd row ok.

If you put somebody in the third row of a 6th Gen 4Runner, you don't like them nor do you care about their safety.
