Chrome delete / dechromed 4Runner Limited Transformation: Pro Heritage grill, Rough Country extended fender flares & more

I purchased my Limited because I wanted the brown leather Portobello interior which ONLY came in the Limited. However I didn't like the look of all the chrome etc. So I did this:

- Purchased the bronze overlay kit (only kit that had the "Limited" badging) and painted it matte black. Then stuck it on and it removed all the chrome badging.

- Purchased and installed for cheap the gloss black roof rails from a forum member here.

- Purchased and installed the TRO PRO upper heritage grill

• Grill part # is Part Number: 53101-35170
• Comes with gray Lettering

- Purchased and installed some TRO PRO Rims and rapped them in Nitto 275/70/18 tires.

- Had a local shop paint gloss black the front and rear gray bumpers.

- Rough Country Extended Flares

• Fender Flares | Sport | Toyota 4Runner 2WD/4WD (2025)

Oh yes and I also bought and installed a new hood, lol.

This is what I’m looking to do too! I bought the limited caused I wanted the third row and the platinum model didn’t come with a third row.

What did you do about camera configuration on the front grille? That’s the only thing I’m worried about.

If you only replace the top grill you do not have to deal with the camera issue. If you replace the top AND bottom grill you have to reposition the camera from the bottom to the top.

I recommend just replacing the top grill. It looks great and the bottom is not worth the hassle (camera repo)

Thank you for posting this! Looks great. Exactly what I'm planning on doing. Did this to my 5th gen Limited (plus added an S/C). For me I want the full time 4x4 and the seats are a bonus. Also thank you for the grill info. I've been reading about the grill swap and camera issue. Didn't realize you can just get away with the top.

I’m probably going to add those same extended flares to my rig. They look awesome. Do you mind posting a couple close ups of both the front and back flares? I’m curious if there is any gap between the flare and the body or if the seal is noticeable between the flare and the body?

Did you install the flares yourself?

Congrats on your new look, looks great. I plan on swapping the upper heritage grille on my Limited and getting new roof racks. Do you happen to have the part number for the racks you installed?

I bought a Underground Limited too for the Portobello tan interior. That has to be the best interior offered by Toyota. The seats are very comfortable and I love the leather. I like what you did for your build. I ran out of money this year so maybe next year. Did you sell your Yokohama tires that came with the 4Runner?

Sure here you go. They look like they could be OEM if you didn't know the 4runner. They wrap around quite a bit. I installed them myself, pretty easy just follow the included instructions.

I bought the Underground Gray too for the Portobello interior. That has to be the nicest interior Toyota offers. The seats are super comfortable and the interior looks the best with the tan color. I like your build. I might do the same in time. I ran out of money for this year because I took a trip to Paris too so maybe next year. I do have the TRP

I agree 100 percent the interior is the best. I have my Yokos listed for sale and I'm sure someone will buy them since they are brand new. New rims and tires make the Limited look like a whole different truck

Some how I posted twice by accident. I tried to delete one of the messages. I sold my old 1997 4Runner on Facebook Marketplace and I sold my car in one day with a very fair offer. That seems like a good place to list your old tires. I did put the TRD skid plate under my engine and I bought the upgraded Toyota roof rack. A few things I am unhappy with the car are my miles per gallon is not even close to the Toyota advertised MPH and I have the hybrid model and the Toyota dash cam really sucks. It is in my field of vision and it is really annoying. I will be changing that soon and I will add a rear cam too.

Thanks for the pictures. They look so much better than the matte black that comes from the factory. I’m definitely going to add this mod.
