I was going to replace my cold intake filter (the conical shaped one) and keep the old one to clean it and then just be able to swap in and out going forward. having trouble trying to figure out how to get the conical shaped filter out. trying to be careful not to break anything. after unsnapping the four clips you can separate the front face but not enough to get the filter out. they say to unclip the mass air flow sensor (which I assume is the piece on tope that is wired. maybe that provides the additional play in order to remove the filter. just looking not to break anything working haphazardly.

let me know if you've done this and any tricks. thanks.

I just replaced the cold air intake filter in the engine compartment in the TRD PRO. I bought a cleaning kit and plan on just rotating these two filters since they are so expensive. To get it out, I had to use a 10mm socket and loosen the band around the red pipe and remove it from the intake door. Be careful not to remove the Mass Airflow sensor. I am told you’ll get dashboard lights if you do. Then pull the door away being carful with the sensor wire. Then you need to finagle the filter out. It’s got odd angles on it but if you get confused just match it to the shape of the door. When you put the door back on there’s a notch at the bottom you have to make sure you slip the tongue on the door into in order to get a proper closure.
