I did not have any instructions on disassembling the console. The part the shifter is on just pops off. Then I removed the 4 bolts in the bottom of the storage area in the center console. There are 2 additional bolts for the console under the part that has the shifter on it. I also removed the piece of the console on the passenger side that I would call a handle. It has 4 bolts. You have to remove 2 dash pieces to access 2 of the bolts.
You need to connect 4 wires for each seat. Ground, Illumination, Ignition on, and 12v. Illumination I tapped into the wire that turns on the light for the shifter. Ignition on I used the wire on the cigarette lighter port. 12v I installed 2 add a fuse in the fuse/relay box on the left side under the hood. I took the wires into the cabinet through the boot for the speedometer cable.
The seats come out with 4 bolts each. There are multiple plugs that have to be disconnected once you unbolt the seats. With the seats out, remove the plastic around the bottom of each seat. Remove the 4 bolts holding on the back of the seat. I am used to hog ring holding on the seat covers. The new Toyota’s use some kind of new plastic clips. The upholstery comes off fairly easy. Use a small screw driver to assist with taking the upholstery plastic out of the clips.
Hopefully that helps. Let me know if you have any questions.
Very helpful! How did you identify the illumination wire?I did not have any instructions on disassembling the console. The part the shifter is on just pops off.
