Hello,

How are people attaching the front plate for the TRD Pro? In British Columbia we have to have a front plate.

Thanks. This is my 6th 4Runner. I currently have a 2014 Limited and really like it. Some hesitations at the moment as it is so much $$.

That is BEA-UTIFUL.

Side-note, if a front plate is required, I would hope they would provide the bracket since they already drilled the holes. Worth an ask.

In my case, with my 4Runner Trailhunter, my dealer provided the front license plate kit in a bag, but my front bumper was undrilled. I'm on my 8th month of ownership and probably won't bother drilling; and installing the kit; or having my dealer do it.

Expandable Threaded inserts. Dont use the hardware that comes with the plate / bumper bracket. Its two large coarse lag bolts. I internet ordered the bumper mount plate bracket from the local dealer for walk in pickup. The amount i save over just walking in was more than 25%. Even at that it was about $50 American.

Well, I picked up the TRD last night and it is definitely going to take a little while to get used to. After driving the Limited for ten years, I had become pretty accustomed to a number of the small features and creature comforts in that vehicle. Letting go of some of those will take a bit of time while I settle into the new one.

There are a few simple things that stand out right away. The central storage compartment is not as deep, the back seat does not have the center pass through for longer items like skis, and the center armrest is not fully padded so I am learning to rest my arm a little higher up on the console so I ma not pressing on the transition from plastic to padding. Minor things in the big picture, but noticeable after so many years in the same vehicle.

The seats in the TRD are really well built, but with my old ones I could tuck wires behind the seat so the kids’ DVD player cords were hidden and not hanging everywhere. Again, just part of the learning curve.

On the plus side, Toyota had a front plate holder ready to go so that part was easy. The one thing that surprised me was that the rear plate sticks up a bit when mounted.

That said, I have had the truck for about sixteen hours and driven it maybe fifteen kilometres, so it is still very early days. I am sure once I spend more time in it I will get used to everything and end up really liking it.

After much deliberation, I just installed the OEM front plate bracket with the OEM hardware. Works for me. I did drill really thin pilot holes in the divots that are pre-stamped in the bumper, despite the instructions specifically saying not to do that!

Normally I go for something drill-free, or just go without the front plate even though it's required. The honest truth is that cheap piano black valance isn't all that beautiful anyway so I didn't feel any kind of way "damaging" it. Also had no second thoughts about using the OEM bolts; they're plenty snug/tight (just don't over-tighten). It could maybe become an issue through many installation cycles, but the reality is this plate went on and probably won't be coming off even once over the course of many years. And, you'll discover that _most_ of the exterior bits and pieces are held on with similar bolts driven into plastic all over the entire vehicle. For example, it bothers me much more that this is what fender flares and mud flaps are held on with than the front plate.
