I’ve been trying to locate a 2025 4Runner TRD Sport Premium 4WD in a specific color with certain specs for quite a while now with very little luck. The dealer called me today and told me that he can get me the color and specs I want in a TRD Off Road Premium 4WD. I’m completely fine with the differences in appearance, but really need to know how much different they will feel with regards to handling, road noise, etc. Will I really even be able to tell that much of a difference? 99% of my driving will be highway and around town. I don’t want to let this opportunity slip away since it’s the color I want and I can actually get my hands on it, but at the same time I don’t want to be unreasonable by buying an Off Road when 99% of my driving is not off road. Would appreciate any advice!

Honestly, the trims are quite a bit different.

To me, I wasn’t a lover of the black plastic fender flares that were the same as the SR5 trim, especially when paired with the wheels that the TRD Offroad premium includes.

IMHO, The TRD Sport Premium has lots of nice features for everyday driving and is a nicer overall looking rig, but it isn’t as capable for more-extreme off roading.

There are more features on the TRD off Road such as MTS, more cameras, better undercarriage metal skid panels and a locking rear differential which are all useful if going on some really rough off road adventures; if you don’t use it for more than moderately challenging off roading, you will never notice the difference.

A more aggressive off road tire on a TRD Sport Premium will allow access and capabilities very close to an OFF road premium.

I would also be in a tough spot if I was presented an Off Road premium vs the TRD Sport Premium. The deciding factor for us was quick availability and a $3,600 discount off MSRP with no extra dealer BS charges.

Styling differences between the two are subjective. I'm normally not a fan of black fender flares (Audi A4 for example, I would never own one that didnt have the painted flares) but for me the Ice Cap with the black TRD wheels looks just fine with the black fenders. I dont like a hood scoop. But you cant go wrong with either.

i do a fair bit of highway driving in my ORP and I think its fine. Much better than my old 2009 Tacoma TRD OR and pretty much on par with the 23 Honda Ridgeline that preceded my ORP. Even my wife thinks the ride is perfectly fine on the highway and she drives a luxury boat (MB GL450).

Sport should be perfectly fine for what you describe but the Off Road is the better off roader for sure since it has more capabilities. I also think that they are more desirable on resale if you ever try selling or trading in.
