Has this happened to anyone- the rear door of my 2025 Trailhunter opened on its own while in the garage. It scraped against the closed garage door and put a 4 inch gouge in the rear door.

Another rear door problem- there is some way the rear door can be triggered to close, related to where you are standing and where your foot is. I've several times had the door start to shut while I was underneath it. It's a serious hazard. Can this be turned off?

*I never use these systems as they tend to never work when I need them to and only when I don't want them to.

"To turn off the Hands Free Power Back Door (Kick Sensor) function—which prevents the rear hatch from opening or closing via a foot kick under the bumper—you can disable it through the Multi-Information Display (MID) on your instrument panel using the steering wheel controls[1]:
Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Activate the MID Cursor: Press and hold the OK button on your steering wheel meter control switches to activate the selection cursor on the instrument cluster display[3].
  2. Navigate to Settings: Use the Left or Right arrow keys to select the Settings (gear icon) menu[3].
  3. Open Vehicle Settings: Scroll to Vehicle Settings and press and hold the OK button[3][4].
  4. Select Power Back Door: Scroll down to Power Back Door (or the PBD icon) and press OK[2].
  5. Disable Kick Sensor: Select Hands free power back door and toggle the setting from ON to OFF"

i have a ajt design fob, that conveniently gives you the option to blank out the button for the rear door open.

also turned off any ability to open the rear door remotely outside of pushing the button to open.

so you can decide which avenue to take to ensure you dont accidently open the rear hatch

I have (minus the scrape and gouge!). I found it open once when I came out of a business I went into--not nice having wide open in a public parking lot. I know it is the key fob. As I recall that can be disabled but, for some reason, only the dealer can do that (probably carista but never checked). I have been looking for another option (thanks, @Nodak, I had not found that one). I thought of 3d printing a housing or guard of some kind. I would prefer it to remain accessible in the rare cases I need it but unable to hit inadvertently, but permanent disable is ok too. I did try a silicone cover as someone at my dealer suggested, but as I suspected it probably helps a little but not much. I have mine in my pocket most of the time and at some point it will be pressed.

I’ve came out of stores twice and found mine open to the public. I believe what happened was I hit the close button on the back gate and it started to close but opened back up as I walked away. Reason I say this is I noticed a couple other times it started to close and opened back up but I caught it. I’m wondering if walking out of range of the remote before it fully closes is the issue. Either way, this is a problem.

Could have walked behind it and tripped the kick sensor as well. You can disable that feature. Also every owner should adjust the lift height of the rear hatch so it wont hit their garage door when fully deployed.

@RaulP Good point. I have gotten into the habit of waiting for it to close and lock before I go out of sight.
