The 4RNer did better than expected on the road trip. Average speed was 80-85 mph and did not want to push it with the new Seibon Carbon hood added. Premium gas was used only. It was quicker and more responsive when on the peddle or on ascending climbs.
Something we did notice in cruise control was that it would break later than we're used to when approaching traffic, but the safety features and lane assist were great to have and almost drove the car for us on stretches and bends. We also felt cruise control would drop down gears unnecessarily or randomly to try to get to its preset speed that it took a hit in MPG (15-16 mpg), also doesn't help with the heavier and bigger Baja Boss A/T tires.
The tires were pressured at 30psi to help with E load stiffness that helped with the ride quality. I highly recommend doing a road force balance for any vibrations you might be getting with a bigger wheel and tire setup.
It snowed once in Colorado and rained heavily once we got back in CA and the Baja Boss A/T did awesome in both weather conditions. Switched to 4hi on occasion when we felt it might be slippery or iced roads.
Brought it to our local dealer the next day to get an oil change and the 5k routine maintenance and there were no concerns from the service dept.
Quick reviews of additional Mods added for trip:
@Wolfbox G900 Tripro
@Muslogy Trunk Cargo Net
@Muslogy Hidden Storage Box
Seibon TR Carbon hood via Josh from Meraki Autoworks
TRD Pro grill via Brenan from KO Creations
Grill lights from Amazon
Silicone cup holder cover from Amazon
Door and rear hatch sill protectors from Amazon
The @Wolfbox G900 Tripro gave us a piece of mind when driving with us almost getting hit a couple of times on the drive. Definitely not a hard install and gave us a great picture/video in real time from the bumper/dash/and rear. The only knock was their OEM bracket could be longer to give it more freedom to adjust when using the actual mirror. Also wish I had time to DL and understand how to better use it.
Switch to the TRD Pro grill because it looks better IMO but also because of the camera hole. Was planning to use it for the Wolfbox bumper camera but its shaped differently.
Seibon Carbon hood felt heavier than the stock hood and was expecting it to be lighter and help with MPG, but the hood is solid and fit almost perfect with the body lines and looks awesome. Only noticeable fluctuations were on a bumpy road. We did PPF it at a local shop in CO to avoid any rock chips. We got lucky on the drive up!
@Muslogy products. The hidden storage box was a great add on as it was stealthy and blended in with the center console. Their cargo net had better quality than the others I've had.
Having small kids is a must to protect the plastics in the car and the protectors from amazon was a cheap way to protect them and keep them like new especially the door sills and also the cup holder.
Wish List for the trip
Roof Rack with top storage.
