17” wheels and caliper clearance?

Hi all

For those who are running 17” wheels did you notice there was barely any room between the wheel barrel and top of the caliper?

I did a test fit with 5th gen trd off road wheels (winter set from previous car) and was planning on buying the narrow m14 lugs from raveoffroad. Calipers will be cleaning the wheel from snow lol

If anyone was curious. I managed to fit the 5th gen wheels on. Has minimal poke.

What's the offset on these wheels?

I have the TRD wheels with the +4 mm offset on my Taco plan to put them on my 4Runner whenever a TRD ORP that's not white or heritage blue arrives at the dealer. On the Taco, they poke out a little, I with they were flush.

These are +15 on 265/70/17 winter tires.

I received my 4Runner TRD ORP at the end of May. Fredericton Toyota didn't want to install the 17" wheels on the 4Runner claiming there wasn't enough clearance around the callipers. But I see 17" wheels on here all the time.

there was a tsb for 17in wheels (For SET region) and clearance issues. people were having issues during off roading and winter time where stuff would cake and harden and hit the hardware.

but since tech go by vin specs, yours probably didnt come with 17in wheels from the factory so its a liability issue (i am guessing) and they dont want to cross that divide.

there is nothing against you putting 17in wheels yourself, but just be mindful there is no clearance and may cause issues of debris hitting the wheel hardware.

SET was installing aftermarket 3rd party 17in wheels and selling new vehicles with them.

since SET/GST are outside the toyota usa umbrella, they do some wonky stuff at times.

ie: TSS package (confusing with TSS (toyota safety sense) system, also the XP series of packages

4Runner SR5 and certain Tacos come with 17" wheels, don't they? Same brakes and everything. I wouldn't stress about it tbh.

My Taco above had fact 17” wheels, my 4R TRD ORP, 18”. I don’t know if the SR5 has the same brakes as the TRD or not.
