12v power extension (for hood hookup) in Hybrid iForce Max 4Runner (DIY)

Because Toyota moved the 12v battery to the back of the Hybrid 4Runner, it became difficult to wire in accessories such as lights and winches. This simple solution helps solve the issue and will give full access to the 12v battery under the hood. Cost is around $150.

Parts list:

Power box
Fuse block with 300amp fuse
3/8 terminal stud
1/0 pure copper power wire
3/8 1/0 term connectors
1/2 in expandable braided wire protector

I’m really bad with understanding car electrical systems, so excuse the dumb question, but why connect directly to the 12v battery as opposed to the hybrid system? Maybe a better question for my understanding to, but if you have the pre wired auxiliary switches, do those connect to the 12v or the Hybrid battery?

Thanks for the right up and video. This is something I’m looking at. I have been looking at the Blaze Off-road version of what you did, but $$$$.

I wish I knew more about electrical, but I’m a novice so this is great for me.

cause the hybrid system doesnt run at 12v it runs at 288v and uses the inverter (?) to step down that voltage to charge the 12v as a byproduct on hybrids since they dont have an alternator (typically, rare exceptions where a hbyrid will have an alternator) to charge the 12v battery.

Yep, you're right the KC plate. I had to drill some additional holes on the mounting surface and use a makeshift ABS backup plate to make it work for my configuration, but I liked the way the bracket utilized existing fasteners and I didn't have to drill into the fuse box cover if I were to use a different type of aux power plate.

BTW, your build is looking really sweet!
