I finally found the source of my rattle- it’s the hood prop… when it’s secured under the hood, the free end doesn’t move, but the pivoting end rattles a ton within its socket. I used a ranger band to tie it up and it’s gone! Feel like there are a TON of different rattling noises in these trucks...
Ah man that sucks. Anything behind/inside the dash is a no-go for me. You’ll probably end up with more rattles after you put the dash back together.
Unfortunately Toyotas quality control for the 6Th gen leaves ALOT to be desired. I’m kinda bummed that the basics weren’t taken care of especially...
No prob! Atleast on the TRD PROs, the hose is located on the drivers side closest to the windshield (circled red). The way I knew this was the sound was by manually rattling the hose. It sounded exactly like the rattle I hear inside. Also makes sense with how much that hood moves in general.
Had a similar issue and I believe it’s the windshield washer hose clattering against the hood. It sneaks under the hood heat shield on the drivers side but my heat shield was missing a few clips which created enough play that it would rattle under load.
Want to revive this as I'm experiencing the same. Going to do some more experimentation this weekend, but something I noticed that the heat shield under the hood was missing some clips (like they literally fell out lol). When looking further, the windshield wiper fluid hose is fed from the...
Anyone find it incredibly difficult to read the engine oil dipstick after a change? I’ve also struggled to get a clean pull that doesn’t have streaking which makes it even harder to get a good read… open to any creative ideas.
Something I’ve found to help (sometimes) is holding down the brake, shifting to N, apply parking break, let go of brake pedal, then shift to park. It seems to take some tension off the transmission and allows for a much smoother shift in the AM. It’s not 100%, but give me a piece of mind.
I’m really bad with understanding car electrical systems, so excuse the dumb question, but why connect directly to the 12v battery as opposed to the hybrid system? Maybe a better question for my understanding to, but if you have the pre wired auxiliary switches, do those connect to the 12v or...
FYI if your back window is down, the trunk will not open. It’ll unlatch and move a few inches then beep at you and stop. No idea why it’s a thing, but it is.
Interesting… does it sound like it’s coming from the column? My creaking sounds like it’s coming directly from where the steering wheel attaches to the column (I.e right behind the Toyota emblem).
Hey all- my TRD PRO has started creaking when turning the steering wheel. It sounds like it’s coming from the column as opposed to the drive train/suspension components itself. I’d expect this of an older vehicle, but only have 7k on the car so it’s a bit shocking… very easy to replicate for a...
I don’t know if the SR5 has this option, but my TRD pro has a button that will turn rear HVAC on/off. I’ve noticed that disengaging that (I.e you want airflow to the back), then physically closing those rear vents will create better air flow in the front.
