Pretty much what the title says, I have a new Platinum that has 20 inch wheels and I’m in Colorado. The stock tires that came with my 4Runner are Dunlops and I don’t have confidence on them on CO snowy highways in the Winter. Does anyone have experience with a tire that fits 20s? Or how about other size wheels and tires on snow? I’ve been looking at some options but honestly, I’ve not seen great options for a 20 inch wheel. The best option I’ve seen is some Michelin snow tires or possibly some Falken Wildpeaks as an all season option.

ive personally run defender ltx ms since my 2014 limited but running defender ltx ms2 on the 25 & 26.

have them on the 25 and 26 platinums but then again the 25 came with grantrek pt5a (successor to the ultra crappy grandtrek at20) and the 26 came with the dunlops. at least the dunlops were better than the grandtreks.

Had Cooper Discoverer Road & Trail AT 275/60/20 earlier this year. Drove fine in snow in Montana winter in 4H, no issue. If you can find them for $1k installed, that's a great deal.

If you're looking for all-weather on-road options, I've had the GoodYear WeatherReady 2 tires on another vehicle and they've performed well in Chicago winters - not as good as a dedicated winter tire, but in my area that's not really necessary. They are available inn 20s in a variety of sizes, so something should work for the 4runner

It is great hearing input on experiences. When I am looking online I am seeing really good things about the Michelin X ice as the best "Winter" tire. I would probably go with that option if I wanted to change tires in the fall and spring. I'm just not sure if I want an all season tire that I can keep on all year.

I previously had a Ram 1500 with KO3s on it and they seemed pretty good on snow but the traction was a bit lacking in the rain. My driving is mostly on paved roads and I do plan on going skiing and driving in Winter conditions in mountain passes in the Winter.

Anyway, I appreciate the input.

I put Nokian Outpost nAT’s on my 25 Platinum. 265/60 R20. Mostly city driving (Calgary) and certainly no regrets. I didn’t want two sets of tires, but it gets pretty cold and icy here in the Winter. So far, I’d say the Nokians are doing very well. A good combination of performance under winter conditions but not too harsh for summer driving. Something to consider.

I just put these Goodyear Duratrac RT's on my Pro. I would think they would come in a 20" wheel but I don't know that for sure. I have these same tires on my truck and they have been awesome on snow and ice in MT. Hopefully they will be equally as good on the Pro.

How comfortable on the road is that tire? The OEM Yokohama were horrible in the snow but they rode very well. I'm looking for something 3 peak rated for the winter weather here in Western New York but I also want something comfortable on the road since that's where I spend 95% of my time.

I got Michelin X-ice for my Limited and have had a good experience with them so far.

I’m in Colorado as well, and favored the x-ice over Blizzaks as apparently the Michelins hold up better over time when it’s a mix of warm and cold temps (vs Blizzaks that wear more quickly in warmer temps). Can vary between 50-60s and freezing blizzards here in the mountains, so that was a benefit.

I heard good things about the Continental and Nokian dedicated snow options too, but hadn’t tried them.

Because 20 inch tires ride rougher (especially on snowy roads) and due to price and convenience,
I purchased a set of 18 inch wheels and some Blizzaks. 18 inch take-offs from Tacos and 4Runners are plentiful in my area, Eastern Washington. And it's a huge savings to just switch the whole set for winter. The 18's ride better, especially on my way up to go skiing, and it's a snap to switch from one set to the other with the new TPS system, just go into settings and switch from Set 1 to Set 2.

They felt nice but my Sport has TRD-tuned shocks that are stiff for Hwy driving. You'd love them.
