Love it, mainly for off roading, put the back window down, sun roof open, and air movement is so much better.

.
Agree. I love my sunroof. Off-roading on a trail with the sun shining and yes, back window down and sunroof open, the air movement feels better.
Every vehicle I’ve owned had/has a sunroof/moonroof. I even had a 20-year old Highlander hybrid with a sunroof/moonroof that was a workhorse. From the time a bought it brand new, to the day I traded it in, I never experienced a leak, random shattering, or any other problems with it, and it was not garage-kept either. Fingers crossed that the sunroof on my TRD Pro will be of the same quality!

I had to hunt for months to find the exact build I wanted, without a sunroof. I had to go out of state as every 4Runner in California seemed to come with one. I have a full length rack with a tent over the front so a sun roof made no sense for me.

I have a similar setup. Roof Rack doesn't effect air movement.

Good query question. I'll keep it simple... no moon roof. I have two Lexus cars and one leaked and flooded the car.. bad scene. Never use them and detest them.

I could care less about having one but I do find they are useful. Often in summer I'll raise it up or crack it open to let the heat escape. I've never had an OEM one leak. I don't drive with it open. But. like most options, it's extra profit so they get installed.

My ‘10 5th gen has a moonroof and I used it all the time and it has never leaked. We’ve lived all over the country and even when it hasn’t been garage-kept, still no issues.
When I bought my 6th gen, I was disappointed that it was extremely hard to find one with the moonroof. My ORP does not have one and I thought I would miss it, but I really don’t that much. It would be nice though to have the extra light inside the cabin from it since the map lights aren’t very bright.

When I shopped mine, I wanted the moonroof as a requirement. I always had in my vehicles in the past. Never had any issues with them. But I live in a place that has mild nice weather most of the time. And I love to open it when appropriate. Always have the shade open to let light in. Too dark when its closed, unless were out in the desert.

I am 6' 2" but very long waisted. My head touches the headliner with moon roof. I went with non premium off-road hybrid because I could not find premium without a moonroof. I actually had a dealership, argue with me, saying you could not find añy OR hybrid without a moonroof. Found one, the same day, at another dealership and bought it.

I’m very surprised that so many people don’t like them. I thought I was the odd one. When I first started contacting dealers, they told me that pretty much all ORPs have them, and they looked at me strangely for not wanting one. I’ve had plenty of vehicles with sunroofs and have never used them. While I’ve never had a leak, I did have the glass break during a hailstorm once. I understand that some people like them, but I just don’t see the value. For reference, it took me five weeks to find my ORP with no sunroof, no hybrid, and in the color I wanted. Those were my deal breakers.

I did not specifically want one, but a nearly perfect fit was found within hours of me deciding to purchase a '25 4Runner, and it had a sunroof. Other than not really wanting to pay extra (which of course I did) I did not have any real objection. I had not thought about the reduced headroom--I am not tall so that is not really an issue, although it gets fur on it from my big dogs in the back! I decided that, as I have it, to use it and enjoy it. I do not use it often (during the day in Southern California it is usually too hot with direct sun) but it can be nice when I do. Nice to see the sky above, can be nice in the right location to relax and look up. And it is good for venting--sometimes I open it for a bit for ventilation, and it is a little quieter opening it than a window as it lets less noise in from the other vehicles on the road.

I do not know if leaking, glass breaking, or the other complaints are actually that common or just a seemingly valid concern that is actually rare.

I didn't want one but it was mission impossible finding one last summer without. This is my 4th 4Runner (3 ORP 1 SR5) and all have had them due to same story. Never had issues just don't use

I had the front glass portion of the panoramic on our 22 Santa Fe explode a year into owning it. I had a hard time locating an ORP with the hybrid, tow package and no sunroof.

I originally wanted the sunroof, always love them and honestly wish the 4Runner had a larger panoramic one.

BUT once I sat in it I felt cramped. I’m not terribly tall (6’1”) but I sit pretty upright and my hat was brushing the ceiling. Also since the back seats are elevated, anyone tall sitting back there is staring at a bump in their face. Overall I just preferred the smooth ceiling and extra space.

We ultimately passed on multiple vehicles that were our exact build with the sunroof until one came in without the sunroof because as much as I wanted it I think I would’ve been annoyed daily by it.

Highly recommend anyone on the fence going in person and judging how it feels to you.

I’m 6’7” and 300 lbs, anything that eats away at headroom is a hard NO
