Heritage Grille Letters Color Swap - Black to Bronze (pro tip: just pop off black letter caps)

Wanted to make a thread on this because I couldn't find any concrete information on the letter swapping process.

My '25 Trailhunter came with the black reflective lettering on from the port and I wanted the bronze, which I ordered from this thread and picked up today from the dealer. LINK

When I popped off the first letter using a heat gun and a plastic pry tool I was surprised to see the letters underneath were already bronze and look much better than the caps as they stand out more. So I am returning the package I just got from Toyota since I never opened them.

You just have to be careful as the bronze letters are stuck with the same 3M tape in the plastic inlet as the overlays are, so when the overlay started warping a bit from the heat I stopped and used the plastic pry. With a little Goo Gone, the bronze letters underneath look great and the tape holding them in place cooled and seems strong as before.

I also ordered the rear letters for the tailgate as they are also black reflective. I got the bronze, but I am a little concerned using the heat gun near that plastic, so I am still deciding if that is worth the trouble.

100% agree. Can't believe they covered them with the pretty muted black reflective.

Looks good, but I actually want to swap out my Mudbath letters that came on my Pro for black letters.

If I had any color other than cutting edge then all of my accents would be bronze. It's the cultured 4Runner owner's only reasonable option

Thanks for sharing! I love the look for Bronze lettering, my next go-to mod would be Trailhunter grill upper and lower. I'm still debating which lightbar to go with, so much to choose from

If you plan on ordering new caps anyway it can't hurt to check. I'd be curious too if bronze is the default color.

Thank you so much for posting this, my Everest trailhunter also has the black reflective letters, and I’ve wondered from day one if they were just caps over the bronze letters, but was never brave enough to start prying and popping. The bronze letters look so much better, those caps are coming off tomorrow morning.
