Have some new wheels coming in soon that are 17x8 with +12 offset. Looking to see if anyone has done or know if I could stuff either 285/75 or 295/70 without a lift. I do not plan on going rock crawling / off roading. Just needs to be able to mall crawl with the usual stuff you'd find on the roads (speed bumps, inclines, etc.) without rubbing.

With a +12 offset with 75s or 70s, you'll be rubbing pretty good with no lift. Nothing that can't be fixed by removing the safety plate and a little bit of trimming up front.

Agree with Papa. 285/75/17 are slightly larger diameter (33.8") than the 285/70/18 (33.7") I put on my TRD ORP. At +25 offset I had to remove crash plate and bend up tab for air dam screw and still had some slight rubbing of forward felt in reverse. Switched to +45 offset and the felt rub is gone (not sure if I can put the crash plate and air dam back on but am going to test that just for fun).
The 295/70/17 at 33.3" MIGHT fit but with that +12 offset and additional width I think its highly likely they will rub. MIGHT work with OEM +55 or TRD option +45 wheels. (I'm virtually certain that I could fit 275/70/18 at 33.2" without rub on +25 - but that extra 10 mm of width and - 13 mm offset makes me say maybe for you)
Caveat to those with other trims: the suspensions are different and this analysis based on my specific experience will not hold. (E.g., the extra inch of ground clearance (assumedly from strut length?) and designed +25 offset of the PRO & TH mean these tire sizes are more likely to work on those trims - and even less likely to work on lower ground clearance trims (SR5, Sport, etc.).)

Good to know. If I do decide to lift, I'll most likely get the Peaks 1.25" lift. Kept telling myself I didn't want a repeat of my Tacoma again. If the 1.25" and a good alignment is all I'll need to clear one of those tires I might just do that, if not, then I will settle with getting 285/70/17 to fit.
