um you are comparing a lexus nx vs a 4R? that not even an apples to oranges comparison. that more like an apple to tomato.

if you want comparable to a nx you want a rav4 woodland. you would need to compare a gx to a 4runner.

a nx is a unibody luxury crossover vehicle vs a BoF 4R, they are made for different markets especially the TH and TRD Pro.

if you want the creature comforts of a nx you would have to look into a platinum 4R but you lose the higher off roading ability of a TH or TRD Pro

and i know a nx wouldnt even come close to even a 4R Off road for ability.

essentially your comparisons are off target when you look at an NX vs 4R, they are opposite ends of the spectrum for what they are designed for.

So if I'm understanding this correctly, the 2026 is essentially the same vehicle as 2025 and there's no point in waiting for the second year of the new generation?

Here's my dilemma: I never have purchased the first year of a new model or generation, waiting for any learning curve to be incorporated in the second year. I had planned to replace my 2019 ORP in 2025 but decided to hold off until 2026 to await any fixes in 2026. However, if nothing will change except perhaps some amenities or cosmetic stuff, there's no reason to wait.

For those with many years' experience with 4Runners (my 2019 was my first), does Toyota indeed keep things essentially unchanged for 2-3 years with a new generation? If so, perhaps I'm better off getting a 2025 now and avoiding the $1,800 MSRP bump. Thoughts?
I think so! We got our 2025 ORP hybrid a few months ago and people had me all concerned about getting a first year new gen too. And on top of avoiding the price bump, I’ve actually seen some models at dealerships with discounts on them now that the 2026’s are coming,

I am 60 years old and always heard the old adage about not buying the first year, new gen vehicle but loved the the 6G redesign at first sight. I kept hearing the youngsters talking about YOLO and FOMO so I threw caution to the wind and immediately sold my '16 SR5 last October and put a deposit down on the first allocation for a '25 TRD Sport Premium in Windchill Pearl in my area. I took delivery in March and have not had one second of regret with my purchase of this first year of new gen vehicle. To you sscarter, I say go with your gut.

Dang Mudbath stays exclusive to the 2025 TRD PRO. Crazy they didn’t pass it down.
I saw somewhere saying the Tundra AND Sequoia got the mudbath colors, LOL

Like others, I thought about waiting... Seeing the 1800 dollar price increase on the already "budget" model SR5 makes me feel a bit better about paying 45 OTD. It almost feels like a "deal" now.

i am referring to the the 4runner, not other models.

but hey if you want to buy a tacoma or a tundra go ahead. you would need to find a new forum then.

auto lsd is braking at the wheels. acts as an lsd
but instead of it happening in the diff it happens on the rotors
and wheel speed sensor logic. only 2WD models have Auto-lsd
(unlike my tacoma trd off-road which has 4wd and auto-lsd
if I want to stay in 2wd and activate it)

If whatever you are driving now does not have wireless charging, you will not regret making a move now. Well, that is how I feel. I am so happy not to keep replacing cords that stop working. The wireless charging, the heated steering wheel, the heated and cooled seats on my particular trim, and the many camera views are some of the things I am especially enjoying.

You can wait for a '26 but I think any post-QC Held 4Runner is good as it gets. They addressed the issues during the hold. I'm still waiting for Toyota to announce what the changes were. I also believe the Japanese are continuously addressing production issues and deficiencies as they happen. I would assume any 4Runner you buy today had all the kinks worked out. Any long term issues probably will not pop up until year 3 and beyond.

🤞My fingers are crossed, as I am agreeing with this POV.
