What options do we have with blacking out the bronze?

About to order it up but would prefer a finish that matches the rest of my truck.

Not sure if there are any options. I would like to match the rest of the truck too. The bronze is growing on me though

I just did my Limited today. Went with the gray letters (TRD PRO Grill) with white lights. Boy what a project. Getting the bumper off was super easy. Swapping out the grill was a pain in the butt. It looks SO much better now.

Any issues with TSS sensor? Doesn't look like it was moved since you left bottom half untouched... Plan to add a front camera? I think the two slots for camera look odd haha

Nope, I purposely did not do the lower grill. Some people say the dealer was able to recalibrate their camera etc and some say they were not able to. I didn't want to risk it. Plus I'm not sure which 20" light bar I wanted to install and I really wanted to install the upper grill. The chrome grill was bothering me lol.

I believe if you buy the OEM grille through Rave Off Road, they have an optional add on to paint match the letters. I have seen some kicking around where the letters were in Heritage Blue or Black.

Had time over the weekend to get some work done on the SR5. Installed the Trailhunter Heritage Grille (part number # 53101-35160) and some Raptor lights! Absolutely love the new look!

I also included a photo of how I routed the Raptor lights onto the back of the grille if anyone was wondering.

What fuse did you tap into? I bought the same lights from your Amazon link.

Super easy on the raptor lights and the light bar from Caliraise. However, removing the front bumper without removing the Neg terminals cause a bunch of Codes and reset my Grill setting which ended up costing me $300 buck for the dealership to reset. FYI bought a Launch scan tool incase it happens again.

There is a part number for black overlays, and I just installed a set today, and I do not really like them. They do cover up the bronze with black, but they also totally change the surface shape.

The letters now look puffy. I'll probably peel them back off and either live with the bronze (it isn't terrible with the blue but I don't have any other bronze and don't really want any), or maybe try to paint the original bronze part either matching blue (with touch-up paint from the dealer) or black.

While I had the grill out not yet installed, from the bac it looked like the bronze parts might be possible to push out from behind. If so it would then be possible to paint them and reinstall cleanly, then they would still have the original clean flat shape.

53113-35030 lower front grill trd matte black
PT948-89250-02 upper front grill trd TOYOTA overlay matte black

The middle part has a different feel like a resin dome sticker, slightly rubbery like vynil. Last night I tried to take a pic from too close because it's parked up against a fence, and the flash really shows it. The overlay is not just the middle puffy part here. It's the puffy part and the darker black part around it.

did you buy the new grille from the Toyota dealership? Do you have a part number? I can’t stand the chrome grille on my limited model. Thanks!

I ordered it from my dealer. It is a pain in the butt to swap out but take your time. Well worth it in my option. Looks SO much better. Part number is in the beginning of this thread.
