These are so hard to negotiate down. If you tell the dealer that you don’t want the truck unless they lower the price they will probably laugh. There are plenty of buyers lined up for these new 4Runners.
Yeah, that’s my concern. I know there’s buyers in my area because my dealer can’t keep a model on their lot

Dealers won’t compete on prices outside of your market. They also will probably just tell you to buy it at the other dealer, and frankly if you have immediate access to another dealer with discounts, you should start there.

to answer your question, be prepared to pay sticker and negotiate down from there.
I have a deposit down on the one I want and was given a price sheet of TSRP (MSRP + add ons, but nothing crazy + transportation) + extended warranty + my dealers “points system” for maintenance. They said warranty is at my discretion but didn’t mention the maintenance thing, but I imagine I’ll be able to get that taken off.

Yea, even more reason to not expect discounts. I’m aware of a few dealers in certain markets where they have inventory of Non-Hybrid lower trims. If your dealer(s) struggle to maintain inventory, like most who barely even have a demo for test drives, they have no reason to negotiate.

The only price they will negotiate down are their ridiculous add ons, because it's usually about 80% profit I'm guessing. I had two different dealers budge and offer to sell me at MSRP, despite 5k add ons. It's all a gimmick and some customers don't think they can question it. This one dealer had 5k worth of some kind of picnic bundle, no shitting. I think it was an 18k gold cooler.

The one I have a deposit on doesn’t have a ton of PIO but that’s really all I want to negotiate off. I don’t want to pay $250 for floor mats and $70 for a pack of phone chargers. Id be content if they dropped the price to cover those and that’s it

Depends where you are. Down in Texas they’re actually starting to pile up on dealer lots. Several dealerships around here taking 3-5K off MSRP before even negotiating on price. They all have the typical overpriced PIO junk to varying degrees but the discount off MSRP pretty much negates most of the stuff on them. I think patience is the key to getting a deal. The stop sale just ended and in the next month or so, even more inventory is going to be showing up at dealerships across the country. Ask any Tacoma owner that overpaid early in production how they feel now that Tacomas are being slashed by 5-6K off MSRP just to move what’s been piling up on lots over the past year.
Exactly. I managed 8.7% off MSRP for my 2024 Tacoma last October. These days deals over 10% are more common.

Time is your friend and don’t forget end of month, end of quarter, and end of year are key times to buy.

I’m in CO Springs and going through Corwin Toyota Colorado Springs, they are a msrp only dealership and because of the constant qc hold, they have been knocking the price down and giving me great deals on accessories/mods. I highly recommend them and they aren’t too far from you all.
I was curious who you were working with. Didn’t have a particularly great experience with Corwin in the past, but maybe I’ll give them another look. Durango seems to be offering $1000 off, but it’s a bit of a trek.

I didn’t have great experiences with Corwin either, at both locations. I ended up going up to Cheyenne at Ken Garff.

It can be. I have a truck reserved with $0 PIO and no dealer mark ups when it arrives. I’m paying exactly MSRP and nothing more other than the taxes/fees. I’m still shopping around, just in case I want to change models or trims. I tell these dealers when I shop around that I won’t pay for their $4995 or $3999 dealer add ons if they want to sell me a truck. At this point, with my truck reserved, I have the leverage. One guy called me yesterday who knows I have a Sport prem reserved at another dealer and I told him that if he takes 1k off MSRP I may buy it. He said he will check and never got back to me. It was the exact match and had only 2 PIO, with one installed item that is a deal killer for me. Color matched door Edge guards is a no go for me. I’ve seen several trucks with these installed over the past few days and they look fake and will get clogged up with dirt that won’t come out.
Doesn't every dealer have a processing fee? Surely you are paying that. How much?

What dealerships in Texas have 4Runners piling up on the lots? I took delivery of my TRD SPORT PREMIUM in late March, I have yet to see another TRD SPORT PREMIUM on the road here in the Hampton Roads area since I bought mine. I have only seen two SR5s. And there are zero 4Runners that I see sitting at any of the local Toyota Dealerships I drive by. Perhaps they have one in the showroom but I really doubt it. Every region is different I suppose so tell me a dealership in Texas selling at $5k below MSRP so I can look at their website please. Thanks

Luckily I have a good 12 dealers within 30 miles from house. I also found the one dealer that allowed me to remove/ add PIO while my truck is on the ship. I removed 2k of PIO. The only item I added was mudguards as they can be a hassle to install, so saving $50 wasn’t worth my time. FYI, Toyota raised the price on 7/1, $500, so all 4Runners in build process will see this.
yeah my build config went from $62,680 base to $63,360 base

options total with DPH fee was $66,447 and the new price is $66,943

floor liners went from $248 to $199
mud guards stayed at $160
paint protection film stayed at $439
lighted front emblem dark chrome stayed at $285

those are all MSRP pricing, i get invoice pricing so its going to be around $60,700, it was $60,200 roughly

I hadn’t thought about that. Thank you! I’ll message some of these dealers and see if I can get a price sheet that I can use as leverage
Where in VA? I am N,. Va. I started with checking out used here but Tacomas and 4s seem to be sellers market. Inventories are low at Oursman, Autonation, DAR cars. I bought from Koons. Was able to knock off $1495 dealer prep/handling on Sport Premium. They are moving inventory so fast and people up here have $$. GL!!

I’m in Harrisonburg, VA. All the dealers near me are smaller so they only get a few units allocated each month. I’m starting to realize I should just be happy paying TSRP. I’ll probably still ask if they can take some money off, but I’ll be fine if not

4R market is pretty hot in Denver.

Was lucky enough to use the spreadsheet on this forum to find a blue TRD OR Prem in CO Springs.

Dealer was nice: no haggle, no mark ups, no add ons, no fees.

Was prepared to dance, but they didn't bite.

Just fly down to Texas for a few hundred $ after you get Salukidawg to reveal where they are selling them down there for $5K under MSRP because they are stacking up on the lots down there apparently.
