Calling all SR5 owners.

What do you think of it?

Anything you wish you had that’s in the OR, ORP, or other trims?

Anything you don’t like about it?

How are the cloth seats? Are they as comfortable as the premium models?

Thanks for the input

I love the cloth seats! I did get neoprene covers to protect from stains. Only thing I wish I had was power tailgate BUT a company is working on getting an aftermarket released which I plan to get installed.
I think for the price and only missing one feature I wish I had that I’m not going to complain at all ??‍♀

I like my SR5, I was going back and forth on the OR and then I realized we don't have enough areas where I would need crawl control or a locker.

I'm satisfied with what the SR5 has. I don't need a big screen, if anything when the aftermarket head units come out, I'll install one of those.

The only thing I don't like is the fact that the door handles and mirror caps don't come body colored. But that's most of the trims anyways so I'm not that upset over it.

I like the cloth seats it does feel durable, to me It seems more durable than my old 5th gen that I had.

No complaints on the cloth seats tbh. Love them and really like the “practical” level of features. Love the fact that I have my third row of seats handy. No real need for rear diff locker (atrac is good enough for me).

The lack of hood insulation(I bought a 3rd party one and notice a slight improvement in both engine noise and hood flutter), the lack of side mirror blinkers come to mind.

Love mine, only reason I thought about a higher trim was the front and rear sensors, If they come out out with the cold weather plus package in a few years I will trade mine in, I also have had many leather seat vehicles, they wear easy the perforated seat are the worst at wear.

I liked the sr5. only thing I missed was the parking assist compare to my previous car.

looking at this forum and think about all the upgrade possibilities. A SR5 would have no problem swapping its low grade oem parts compare to higher trims that might have something good already.

For the most part it is all i need. Never had heated seats and that is really the only feature I would have liked. The entertainment screen is adequate. There is alot of plastic in the vehicle and the metal is thin enough to hear conversations motorcyclists are having at stop lights. thinking of upgrading the stock speakers when available and might try sound dampening.. Drives well and has enough giddy up for what i will ask it to do. Forest service roads during steelhead season and getting to ski areas.

The only thing I don’t love compared to the 5th gen I had is the amount of hard plastic on the doors. I purposely wanted the smaller screen so that is a non issue. I was never a huge fan of Toyota’s synthetic leather, so the cloth is actually pretty nice ( and not as sweat inducing either!). Most of the other things can be switched pretty easily, I’ve already upgraded the non existent skid plates for example.

Absolutely love it, the higher trims are just nowhere near worth it for what you get. Plus, half the people or more getting them will never fully utilize the vehicle. If you can drive offroad, you can drive offroad. My suggestion and what I am doing is buying the upgrades I actually want/need. You'll be able to customize your truck specifically how you want and save 10-15k+ while you're at it. Cloth seats look good and feel good, that's coming from someone who came from an Audi. if you truly want leather, people are getting quotes from katzkin around 2-2.5k (can get heated seats). 14 in screen was super unnecessary and just beams your eyes on the highway. The one feature I thought was cool was the front bumper camera but I ended up getting a wolfbox dash with 3 cameras instead.

TL;DR Save the extra money and customize your truck how YOU want and for YOUR needs.

I really like the SR5 perfect platform to modify. I wish the stock sound system was better. I have 4wd model I'll probably use it a couple of times being in in So Cal. I was going to get an off-road edition but realistically how often would I need any of those features. I didn't wanna pay an extra 15k just to get upgraded sound system.

We have a 25 Tacoma SR5 4x4 DC and a 25 4Runner SR5 4x4. I do like that the Tacoma SR5 can be optioned with parking sensors and JBL audio, or heated seats and steering wheel. That is a nice touch for an SR5. We got the JBL and parking sensors but decided against the heated options on cloth seats. The 4Runner can't be optioned with anything but color and drivetrain, BOO. The Tacoma cloth seat material is like the previous 14-21 Tundra/16-23 Tacoma generations which held up well on my other vehicles. The 4Runner has a tweed style that seems very durable and tough. Something I noticed between the two vehicles drivers seats is the Tacoma will sit the driver an inch lower than the 4Runner when positioned exactly the same. The vehicles are built in different countries so it could either be the seat foam density or the material stretch that sits you lower. The front of each vehicle to the back of the front doors are the same. The 4runner also sits 2.5" lower in the front and .5" lower in the rear that the SR5 Tacoma, both 4x4 models.

Now on the Off Road models. Having a 17 Tacoma TRD OR I realized I never needed to use CRAWL mode. I only used 4x4 high for everything. What about interior? Having a sedan with black leather that is hot as heck in the summer I now only opt for cloth. As for climate control? Who can't turn a knob, geez. Now this is just my opinion and I am in my fifties, but why pay so much more for things you don't use frequently. The only thing I would recommend in super hot climates is ventilated seats, they are the best. Note: Katzkin leather seat covers can be outfitted with heat or ventilated options or both, it runs about $2000 installed I think. Still cheaper than buying a vehicle just for that.

I know I am rambling LOL but I have owned nearly three dozen vehicles in my lifetime and counting, ask me anything.

How is the wolfbox?
Very solid, they have a prime day sale as well. I initially got it because I live in Baltimore but have used the front bumper cam a few times off road. great pixel quality.
