Rear seat belt indicator light on startup

I get this indicator light and several chimes every time I start my ORP. There is nothing in the backseat and it happens whether or not they're folded. I have turned off the rear seat warning and this indicator goes away after about 15 seconds, but still comes on at every startup -- is this normal? Seems odd.

Mine does the same thing. I thought there might be an issue with my rear seat sensor, but the warning light disappears after 15 sec or so, same as yours. I just chalk it up to an extended warning sign imposed by Toyota.

its the new fed requirement for those idiots leaving a kid or dog in the back seat. there is an option the main head unit to turn this off.

■Rear seat reminder function
As the first reminder so as not to forget
luggage, etc. in the rear seat,
when the power switch is turned off
after any of the following conditions
are met, a buzzer will sound and a
message will be displayed on the
multi-information display for approximately
6 seconds.
Also, as the second reminder, when
the doors are locked, a buzzer will
sound and the emergency flashers
will flash for a few seconds, and a
message will be displayed on the
multi-information display.
• The hybrid system is started
within approximately 10 minutes
after opening and closing a rear
door.
• A rear door has been opened and
closed after the hybrid system
was started.
The second reminder will not be
activated if a rear door was opened
before the doors are locked. However,
if a rear door is opened and
then closed within approximately 2
seconds, the rear seat reminder
function may not operate.
The rear seat reminder function
determines that luggage, etc., has
been placed in a rear seat based on
opening and closing of a rear door.
Therefore, depending on the situation,
the rear seat reminder function
may not operate and you may still
forget luggage, etc., in the rear seat,
or it may operate unnecessarily.
The rear seat reminder function can
be enabled/disabled. (P.639)

Most annoying thing about it is that it covers up the outside temperature until it goes away

I bought 3 cheap short dog leash connectors, cut the webbing off so it's just the buckle insert. Buckled them in and problem went away. If I need to use the actual seatbelt back there, just unbuckle the insert.

It really is annoying (first world problem I guess). If it didnt cover up the outside temp for about 15 seconds I wouldnt have even thought about it.

Get the Carista dongle, you can turn off ALL seatbelt and back seat warnings. Worth every dollar.

Odd. Mine shows up in bottom left, I think it depends on what look you have selected.
