Hey guys,

I've been on the hunt for the extremely elusive 2025 4Runner TRD PRO Mudbath in Quebec, Canada and wanted to report my findings.

In November of last year, I placed a deposit and "ordered" this very specific model at a dealer in Montreal and was told to expect a May-June delivery timeline.

In that sense, early May, as the dealer didn't want additional mileage on my trade-in, I went in and dropped off my trade in for the value exchange contract... Once that was done, I was informed that the car wouldn't be delivered just yet and I will have to wait until August or perhaps until December. The real answer should have been : "We have no idea when and if this will ever arrive". So here I am without a daily driver and actively on the hunt for a 2025 4Runner.

I've contacted about 15 of the major Toyota dealers in the Greater Montreal Area and here are my findings (could be accurate, semi-truthful or complete lies, but this is what I've been told by dealer employees) :

  • Every major dealer in the province gets 1 (one) allocation for a 2025 4Runner Hybrid for the entire calendar year. They can pick one trim and one color. Once that's placed, it's game over for this calendar year.
  • 14 out of the 15 dealers had multiple deposits in for various trims and colors of the 2025 Hybrid
  • The 1 dealer I found has a Hybrid TRD Off Road Premium arriving between August and October
  • The Toyota Canada territory manager assigns the allocations on a "who he likes more" basis as far as the timeline goes
  • The vast majority of the dealers said that a deposit placed today will result in a 12 to 24 months wait time and that the color Mudbath will most likely not be available
  • The largest dealer in Canada told me the minimum wait time to expect is 12 to 16 months, even if they have the most pull with Toyota Canada.
  • Placing a deposit doesn't actually mean placing an order, it means your dealer has to place the order to Toyota Canada, and some of them don't even bother and will keep giving you misleading information (a dealer said this about another dealer)
  • If multiple dealers place multiple orders with your name, this may result in all orders being cancelled without notice
  • Only 2 dealers have Gasoline models available to test drive, both demos are not for sale as of right now

All-in-all, most dealers have NO idea and are sharing rumors and non-verified information. Seems like Toyota is really neglecting Canada and Quebec even more specifically when it comes to inventory allocations.

I'm starting to think this vehicle doesn't exist.

Spending 100,000$ on a Toyota has proven to be an almost impossible task.

Anyone has more information to share?

Hello I’m waiting for a Platinum and I live in Kitchener Ontario, my dealer told me waiting time is 6 to 8 months, however I see this dealer getting at least one 4Runner a week (non hybrid) however this week they got a 4Runner hybrid and still up for sale you can check out their website Heffner Toyota also my sales representative told me that they have sold and delivered 5 hybrids since march? Not sure weather this is true? I did go to the dealer yesterday to see the new hybrid and it’s there.

Hope you like the new wave runner colour!? To be candid , I think that is going to be your ‘unique’ colour choice if/when they start to arrive in Canada

I'm in the U.S., also waiting for a Mudbath Pro. The GM at my dealership is a decades-old neighbor friend, so there is no lack of trust. The dealership sells about 300 cars per month, which puts them a bit back in the line compared to those who sell 500-600 per month. They just got their first 2025 Pro this week, but not Mudbath. Mine is "ordered," but no real timeline. I'll wait this out to get what I want. I don't really understand why Toyota can't get a 2025 model delivered anytime soon, but who am I to understand their problems...

I Just ordered My Limited 2026 this week, Red with Havana interior, Dealer told me One year may be more. I´m in Quebec Canada . They dont really have a Clue, they know approximately 40 days in advance when they reach the Port. I’ll just patently wait and by the time I get it winter 25/26 will be over!

Thanks! I reached out to that dealer. At this point I'm most likely gonna pick-up any other trim, drive it for 6-12 months and then sell it to get the TRD PRO (if it ever exists in Mudbath in Quebec, which I doubt more and more)

I can't grasp how bad Toyota Canada has failed in providing inventory of the higher-end trims to Canada. The US are getting something of a ratio of 300 to 1 compared to Canada for high-end Hybrids.

Do you guys know if there are people from Toyota dealers in Canada or from Toyota Canada hovering around?

It’s unbelievable how bad it’s here in Canada to get the top trims 4Runner I haven’t even seen the TRD-PRO or TH anywhere in the street, I go quite often to Toronto which is a big city and even there I don’t see one around!!

Unfortunately, Toyota Canada does the distribution to the dealers. Even, though you have put a deposit and order in. Doesn't mean you'll get it. Basically, it's a lottery and with the Halo color Mudbath, it is a limited production of this color. Wish you good luck in getting the Mudbath color, from your dealer.

My advice to anyone who wants a specific model of Toyota, in a specific colour, with a specific trim level, is to bookmark every dealer in driving distance and check their new inventory daily.

A lot of dealers will say they can "order them" and are happy to take a deposit but that's not how Toyota operates - the dealers get allocations from the factory based on what the factory builds, and the factory builds what it likes (and what is statistically most likely to sell).

So your preferred dealer may never get a model that fits your requirements, its literally luck of the draw. And it doesn't appear that dealers work together to satisfy demand, like some other car brand dealers do. Let's say you "ordered" a 4runner in Black ORP.... if a 4runner matching those requirements gets allocated to a dealer CLOSE to you, but isn't the dealer you "ordered" with, you won't get that car.

It is bizarre to me that any other car brand you can factory order a specific model, colour and trim, and Toyota doesn't do this, but here we are.

Oh god ! I just made a deposit today on a Black TRD PRO. I was told to expect 9 to 12 months for delivery. My lease on my current vehicle ends in July 2026. Hope it's delivered as expected :)

Keep watching all the closest dealers to you like a hawk, one might come in far earlier than that. Thats what the guy told me when I asked for a black SR5 - "6 - 12 months probably" and i had mine like 3 weeks later at a different dealer. The guy at the first dealer keeps sending me random 4runners that are clearly not what i asked for lol.
