So researching the 2025 4Runner TRD Sport Premium and TRD Off Road Premium and am wondering if people who currently own them notice the hard plastics on the arm rests, door panels, and glove box in daily driving?

These are upgraded to soft touch materials in the Limited, Platinum, Trailhunter, etc...trims. I've noticed my 2015 Trail Premium has soft touch on the arm rests and door panels. Not necessarily a show stopper given all the improvements but just wanted to get some feedback from people.
I am a simple so the plastic is easy to clean, low glare and easy to replace of damaged. I have a Hybrid ORP. My feelings are it’s a truck/suv for utility. Its nice to not have a ride so nice ya worry about damage. I drive it and use it like its stolen. It holds up great thus far.

I assume Toyota was forward thinking in going the plastic route. The soft interior pieces either leather/pleather will deteriorate over time because so many drivers use lotion on their skin. The chemicals in lotion will destroy it and cause warranty claims.

I've been driving since the 80s, and I've never had anything but hard plastic or metal where my left arm rests with the window down except in my 1980 El Camino. I never knew it was a problem until youtube reviews became a thing LOL :D
I come from work truck trims, I love me some durable hard plastics. Some of the cars/crossovers folks around here have been coddled waaaay too much :ROFLMAO:

No but in all seriousness: while I think people complaining about hard plastics in the SR5 (vs previous gen yadda yadda) are massively coping, I also think that trims like Sport Premium and OR Premium should be getting the Limited soft-touch treatment for that price tag. Like seriously. Give the upgraded infotainment, sound system, sunroof.........yet the same SR5 hard plastic? I guess this time they had to try really hard to set the Limited apart.

Yes, Toyota is way off base with their pricing and option packages. Or, maybe everything has just got expensive. Who knows.

I'm with you there. It absolutely should be there on anything with the 'premium' moniker. Also, at 60k an ORP should have rear seat heaters and dual zone climate at least. My 2013 Tundra SR5 has dual zones for crying out loud. Keep that pop-out dash speaker that's just going to make you irritating to EVERYONE at the beach/campground and pad my armrest dammit!

The pop out speaker makes your vehicle a target.

I don’t notice the hard plastics at all. Our other car is an Acura MDX. The hard plastics in the 4Runner have the right feel for the vehicle that it is. I feel just as comfortable in my new 4Runner versus the ‘23 MDX with leather/soft touch/piano black finishes everywhere.

I do worry that with so much plastic some annoying creaking may pop up at some point.

Only one I was concerned about was the top of the door where I put my elbow. Hasn't bothered me one bit. If someone were to make a third party soft touch insert or pad, I would only get it if the price were really good but I definitely don't need it. All the other hard plastics I haven't noticed.
I had the same concern but it was less the hard plastic and more of the square edge. It's not terrible but i would also probably be interested in some kind of pad.

My 2013 Tundra is ALLLLL hard plastics.

1. I never knew it sucked until modern Youtubers told me it was bad

2. I bought it new and have put over 185k miles on it...It still has zero rattles.

Would I like a soft touch arm rest? I guess. But it was never on my list of deal breakers.

Am I still gonna whine about it because this is the internet?

I have the ORP and the glove box definitely needs adjustments, there is a separation in closing it and with any type of bumps it will clink quite a bit.
