I’ve set the seat memory. But it doesn’t always return to memorized seat position after truck is locked.
it recalls fine if I exit truck and return if I don’t lock the truck

I’ve followed the instructions (hold memory button the seat number till beep. Is there a reason when seat memory is off?

what am I missing?

Not sure if you’re switching keys, but pretty sure my wife’s key had two presets saved and my key had two presets saved. I had to go and program my memory seat to each key. They’re tied to the driver profiles in the settings too. If both keys are in the vehicle it seems to default to whoever is “primary driver” in the settings.

Ours did the same thing. It is my wife’s daily driver and about 50 percent of the time it would recognize my key and settings. I did all the seat resets and calibrating seen on threads and still 50/50. Thing that finally worked was going into my wife’s profile and unchecking the link key to profile settings.

The seat needs to be calibrated. Move the seat all the way forward, then move it all the way back, tilt the seat back forward, then all the way back. You will hear a beeping when you first start. At some point the beeping will stop. At that point your seat is calibrated. Now you will be able to set the memory.

I too had the same problem and I started to sweat bullets!.

I was starting to think that I was going to have one of these new cars with electrical problems like I had on my previous Mercedes glc.

If a car gets some type of parasitic virus or fault it can literally travel around within the CAN system.

These kind of issues are very hard to fix. Dealerships usually just do software updates or replace a specific part to try and fix it.

But the 4Runner gods were with me and I followed those instructions from A.I. search.
And it worked first try. I always did wonder why the seat was making beeps when I would slide it back or forward. Figured it was some type of warning not to get your fingers caught!

I'm still learning the car and have figured out how to engage 4H, 4L and full lock. I think I've got it into muscle memory now, so if I am on a trail
I could engage some of the tools, especially crawl mode and the different types of terrain features.

lol still see dealers are not doing PDI correctly before handing over a new vehicle to a customer. guess in to much of a hurry to have the customer sign and get the hell out of the dealership.

I personally don't think they do anything but just to make sure there's fluid and oil and air in the tires so you can take it off the lot for that big depreciation hit
