It sounds like you did not ask them to specifically confirm the price before your visit. Is that the case that you did not ask and went with the assumption that what they had advertised was still accurate?
Read my OP. I did indeed ask that.

oh okay I see that. So 20 minutes into your drive they called you back and raised the price or informed you they raised the price. I can see how that is frustrating. At least they called you back instead of waiting until you arrived. That would have sent me through the roof. But I agree with you putting them on blast so others know...buyer beware..

Oh, I was pissed, but the call saved me a 70+ mile ride.

Yeah, if I drove 70 miles then had them tell me that, I probably would have ended up being arrested for my actions.. Even the 20 minutes, getting excited to make the drive then get that call, not happy for sure.

If this continues (I'm crossing my fingers it will not since it will be my 6th vehicle purchase from my dealer) I'm not going to pay $75K for a 4runner. I'll go and shop a GX550 Overland instead.

Everybody wants those Off Road Trims to look cool and outdoorsy but they don't plan on using them for that rough off roading stuff.

So that desire to have the tough looking Off-Road, it leads to the shortage of available inventory and hence, higher prices.

All you people out there trying to get an Off Road that you don't even need, back off and let only those that will be going off road buy that trim.

Being sarcastic now, of course. But these poll numbers seem to back up what I am saying?

Has there been a survey asking what trim is the one being sold the most? TRD Sport, TRD Off-road, SR5, etc? Not sure if you guys have seen this video from Top Gear, but he claims that Toyota gave him a TRD Sport as they said it was one of the most popular trims.

And....I did indeed buy a Land Cruiser w/Platinum package. There are a ton of settings you can turn off, much like the annoying eye camera that rings when your not looking straight ahead. You can customize to your own specs. The Land Cruiser is much, much quieter than a 4runner and I'm loving it.

Interesting perspective, all that I heard from all kinds of reviewers and owners was that the LC was loud with no acoustic glass and near vertical windshield

I have no idea where you read that and I haven't seen or heard any reviews like that. Maybe they were referring to the 1958 model?

Forum and video reviewers in the past few months I guess. The wind noise aspect is not much of a secret. Some of them might be reviewing 1958 but I'm not aware of higher trims adding acoustic glass over 1958 anywhere. Conversely for the 4R, SR5 has front side acoustic glass and some higher trims add windshield acoustic glass; GX has side I think

Anyway, glad you found your right vehicle. Just curious on the unique perspective is all
