Toyota will not increase the price of there cars despite the tariffs. :)

Okay, but are they also going to be keeping supply at status quo while they do that? One could imagine that while Toyota is playing this card to keep customers happy, from a business standpoint it also wouldn't exactly be scrambling to expand production just to make more of a loss on each vehicle in the US market.

Of course, the Canada market is probably a fair bit smaller, but I hope Toyota takes this opportunity to increase its production quotas a bit for Canada. Especially ours are not US-spec, and the differences aren't just port-installed accessories

These go into effect on April 2nd.

any idea how quickly they are gonna tack on these charges to the MSRP?
my vehicle is due to land on April 12.
This may not be everyone's experience; however, I was nervous about this as well.
In February I put my deposit down. Yesterday, I brought them the check for the full amount though because I was worried that they may be required to tack on that 25%. That being said, they took my check and honored the deal. Still have about 1-3 weeks before it gets here though.
I'm glad they honored it; I was ready to back out and have my dreams crushed.

Looks like Ford is stepping up too! Seems there's too much to lose and consumers will end up benefiting....But wait, this isn't news worthy! And Canada loves Ford trucks!

Ford Offers Discounts on Cars and Trucks as Auto Tariffs Kick In

The company said it would offer customers the same prices it offers its employees on most of its vehicles.
Ford's employee pricing is such a yawn honestly. They only really want to sell F-150s, it doesn't matter what other models they put on the poster or program. For years Rangers have had pitiful discounts here and they always try to use $10k employee pricing to steer you towards F-150 (their cash cow) instead. Even pre-pandemic MSRP was inflated accordingly so that employee pricing could be regarded as the actual "right" price. And then pandemic rolled around and they basically inflated price by $15k-20k, while giving you a limited time $7k-10k incentive and say "wow look how affordable our F-150s are!"

The last time I went Ford was 2018 and I got burned with a lemon F-150 and horrible customer experience from both dealer and corporate. Not considering going back yet

Here's an explanation of what seems to be Ford's strategy.

Reduce incentives and raise finance rates and then tell everyone that it's employee pricing. And, that may be true, it's just not the whole story.

Anyone looking to finance a new car purchase should be aggressively shopping rates.

As a Canadian I only wish we could aggressively shop rates:

Domestic offers slightly lower rates currently than Japanese automakers but it's not lower by much

Yes, it's B.S, I agree, but I have equally pathetic experiences at Toyota dealers, and just about all the brands in all fairness. They are all slimy. I haven't owned a Ford in 40 years, then picked one up 3 years ago and have been unexpectedly impressed. It's a fantastic vehicle on and off-road and hasn't had any issues. I drive it more than my Japanese SUV.

Most buying Raptors are fine paying ADM fees, which isn't me.
Oh of course, dealers do suck for every brand. The buying experience at my local Toyota dealer turned me away from Toyota for years. For Ford it was the way corporate support also treated me that drove me away; I had difficulties with dealers as well on the GM side but their corporate support actually committed to helping me over several months. We had been driving Fords for many years before that experience; I'm not opposed to their products, but they don't offer anything comparable in the 4R's segment.

Anyways, when I heard the employee pricing announcement my mind immediately went "what's the catch?", and turns out it's pretty much what everyone familiar with it expected from post-covid Ford, buy our still-overpriced F150s or GTFO

Yep....F-150's I don't touch. There's a Ford Everest in other parts of the world that's an off-road SUV. It looks like it's about perfect, but it's not available in the US, sadly.
Everest would be amazing 4runner competition. 2.3EB is simple and dependable (and new MPC revision adds dual injection), also one of the closest analogues to the T24A-FTS. Familiar interior from the Ranger. Watts link rear end like Bronco/Ranger Raptor is a nice touch too.

They probably just want to keep ripping us off with overpriced Broncos. If only Canada was big enough of a market to have enough say to convince Ford otherwise

Wouldn't it be crazy if Japan was 'smart enough' to jack up prices in advance of a trump-tariff show......then profit margins built in and 'we are holding prices'......and if not selling, here come the dealer discounts to move them? lol.

This would be crazy. And also plausible with DT talking about tariffs on the campaign trail. If they paid attention, which I am sure they were, they totally could have done this.

I have a friend who is an auctioneer. His company works a lot of bankruptcy cases. He shared this in a group chat:

“I just left a bankruptcy conference and teh lead economist for the SE region said that car sales were on the rise due to the possibility of tariffs. He said, as a side note, that if you are looking at cars you need to do it now. Whether the tariffs ACTUALLY happen is still in the air. Not me saying it - he was the one with the insider 411.”

I'm not sure there's really any insider information, just people claiming to have it. ;o) The outcome seems to be in the hands of the "magic 8 ball" at this point.
