His was built in the batch after the qc hold was in place. Those built before his were all placed on the damned qc hold because Toyota messed up the air dam.
The weird part is my salesperson said the 4runners were all held up at the port when I put my deposit down.

That’s because the ones that had been built and shipped to US up until 05/15 were. Any 4Runner built after 05/15 when they started the hold, had their own qc testing done prior to their shipment to the US. Now some still had delays at the ports due to port installed options but they really were affected by the air dam hold.

Here's how mine went down.

Put a deposit on 05.25.2025
Got notified vehicle was at the processing center on 06.19.2025
Got notified it was at the dealership on 06.20.2025
Pickup up my 4runner on 06.28.2025

Note: I live on Oahu, so we only have one port the vehicles come into.

I'd thought I had to wait longer than that.
and the delivery company is not even toyota, per se

its servco just like SET and GST so to speak.

https://www.servcotoyota.com/

https://www.servco.com/

they take care of toyota, lexus and subie's

I put a deposit mid-April. It’s been stuck at the port for just over a month now. I see a lot of comments about the air dam (which looks like garbage and I’m removing), but my dealer told me the QC delay was related to the tail lights. I’m extremely frustrated with this situation and thinking about buying something else next week if this doesn’t clear this week. I’ve had it and I’m disgusted because this was promised mid May- early June. Also, some of the video reviews online with error messages and glitches are making me wonder If I’m making the right choice. I had a 3rd generation for almost 20 years and loved it, but I’m getting more and more turned off with every day that passes with the QC hold. The 4 cylinder was also making me question this vehicle, it looks great but I’m starting to get second thoughts with this delay and what else could be wrong that the dealers aren’t telling us.

the itch is due to 4 drivers and 2 cars in my house and a promise from the dealer to have the car to me 3 weeks ago max when I put the deposit down. Just frustrated with this delay with barely any communication from the dealer unless I press them on status.

again if your situation requires a vehicle now, a 4R is probably not the route to go or for that matter any 1st year new HIGH demand vehicle.

trust me, i've been waiting since dec-2024 for my blue platinum. the wife had to wait 10 months for her tundra platinum

right now platinum 4R in blue (9 in the whole usa) and red (4 in whole usa) is huge long term waiting game.

and there is only 92 platinums in the whole usa currently.

do i want something else ??? i could settle for a limited since there is about 300-400 in the whole usa, but at my age, i can wait and not to settle.

i learned my lesson to not settle on a vehicle anymore since i can afford to wait.

if i wreck my 204 4R right now, it would be a different story, i would find a alternative (i looked at a grand highlander, or god forbid driving a tundra platinum as a daily driver).

when i pulled the csv yesterday of all the hybrids in the usa here are the stats (this list doenst show what are already sold)

Trust me I get it. I put a deposit down in late 2024. Got the notification it was allocated in March, built in April. Arrived to Long Beach port on 04/28 and placed on the qc hold on 05/15. It’s been sitting collecting dust since 05/15 with no eta or updates.

And yeah the qc hold is for the lower air dam, it’s even listed as QC534-Air Dam service/replacement on the status tracker page the dealers have access to.
