2025 4runner 6th gen Wescott 3/4 Roof Rack Installation Details Screenshot 2026-02-28 at 9.45.12 AM

I bought a Wescott 3/4 roof rack for my Gen 6 Off Road Premium and the box arrived yesterday. Wescott can't/won't provide written installation instructions but I did find a video for a Gen 5 by TRD JON. I was a bit shocked to see that the mounting area was left unfinished. This is the area where the old roof rack mounts were located and the new Wescott spools are places.

I have a feeling that all roof rack systems might have a similar set up. Can anybody post photo(s) of their installed mounts and if it's necessary to cover the gap in the black rubber roof trim? Is there a good way to finish off this gap?

You’ll likely get a better reply, but if not, I like a product called Sugru. It’s billed as moldable glue, but acts like a putty that’s shapable then cures to a hardened state. It stays in place but can be removed easily when needed. And it’s available in matte black.

The Sugru looks like a good option as long as it removes fairly easily.

I did see that video but she talks too fast and there's nothing like printed instructions for use in the garage. I'm forced to write down notes as well as take screen shots and print them out. I looked at other brand roof racks and, correct me if I'm wrong, they all provide, clear printed instructions. I just can't fathom how or why Wescott will not do the same.
