Curious if my 25 SR5 has VSC? In 4Hi I have slid around low speed corners but was not corrected or beeped at like in my old Venza. I haven’t really pushed it yet because it’s brand new but it didn’t act like it has VSC at all. Haven’t noticed any traction control action taking off from green lights on icy roads. Maybe it’s just not recognizing wheel spin or different wheel speeds? No warning lights lit, and I can turn off TRAC manually and get that warning light. If I hold TRAC for several seconds, I don’t get any other warnings.

What driving mode are you on?

Pretty sure VSC is standard on all trims.

My SR5 only has ECO, Sport and Normal. 4Lo, 4 Hi and 2wd. I thought VSC is standard. Maybe I wasn’t close enough to crashing to have it intervene. Maybe I’ll go play in a parking lot

easy to turn it off temp or until ignition off.

temp will last until you hit 30 mph then turn back on via the button

to semi-perm off, hold the button until the dash light for vsc flashes or it display vsc off, then it will stay off until ignition off and reset back to default on, on next ignition on (if i remember correctly)

i rarely turn it off even in winter time. it will arrest a side slide pretty quickly and save your butt at times.

day to day driving even in winter time i wouldnt turn it off

only turn it off if you like play around in an empty parking lot or on the trails to get some wheel spin. when i first got my 2014 4runner, i turned it off to play around in a empty parking to lot to figure out how the vehicle handled in the winter time. easier to learn in a parking lot than during an emergency.

you be surprised how fun it is to power slide a ft4wd vehicle sideways.

just remember, in ft4wd, you point your front wheels in the direction you want to go, not into the slide like rwd cars. let the ft4wd pull you into the direction you want to go, not slide into the direction.

it very counter intuitive when you are told to turn into the slide if you are use to that. you have to treat it like a wrc rally car

also rpms are you friend in ft4wd to spin the 4 tires to help pull you into the direction you want. slower speeds just means you will more likely slide instead of having the tires pull you.
