Trailhunter Snorkel Sound / Noise 'Music' – Eliminated No More!

Pic #4 shows two 'caps' (one red and one black). The red cap comes with the Coupling Kit (PTR03-35241-AE). The black cap comes with the truck (located on the bottom/side of the air box, it needs to be removed to install the red elbow).

I only see one red plug in your picture above titled #4. And I don’t even see that in the parts that I ordered. Here are the three things that came in the stuff that I had ordered using your part numbers. Am I missing anything? I feel like I’m missing that red plug/cap in pic 4. Thank you.

EDIT: I talked to the dealership and they see that they did not send me the kit, they just sent me the elbow. And now they can’t find a part number for the red plug that’s missing. So he’s trying to hunt down that part number now. Otherwise I’m going to have to ship the elbow back at my expense and then they’re gonna ship me the kit again. He can’t figure out how the elbow got shipped without the other part because it appears my initial order got changed somehow in their system. What a pain in the ass.

Just read your last post. Yep, they screwed up!

If you ordered the TRD Coupling Kit (PTR03-35241-AE) $111.18, from Sparks Toyota, that is not what they sent you. It appears they attempted to ‘makeup’ the Coupling Kit by sending you PTR03-35240-AA, $109.33 (old part # PTR03-35241-AB) Cleaner Hose Red and forget to include the red cap.

As noted in my writeup, you have two methods (4A or 4B) to plug the snorkel. If you are going to use method 4A, you do not need the red plug.

• 4A. Insert an oversized oblong shaped piece of foam (4” bedding foam works great) into the snorkel inlet (pic #2). Go to step 5 below.

OR

• 4B. a). Using the red plug that comes with the Coupling Kit, (pic #4) plug the air box snorkel inlet.
• b). To make room for the red plug when reinstalling the air box, you need to remove two bolts and the elbow going through the fender wall (pic #5).

I personally used method 4A so that I can easily change back to the snorkel air intake if ever needed.

The 15 year old kid in me loves the snorkel sounds! Sometime I find myself keeping the windows down just so I can hear it!
Has anyone converted it to look more like a traditional snorkel? That may keep it more quiet.
