Storage: functional flat type storage bin or chest to store some basics?

Moving from a Ram 1500 to a 4Runner TRD Off Road Premium. My Ram has multiple hidden storage areas that allowed me to keep rope, rachet straps, small tool kits, hand saw, lopers, etc. all out of site. While I don't really need all of this stuff all the time, most of it comes in handy on work days and while hunting. Has anyone found a functional flat type storage bin or chest that allows you to keep some basics on board.

For inexpensive flexibility, we also use plastic totes of various sizes to fit our daily needs. Toss one or more in, then wrap bungee cords over the top for hold down.
