I'm lost in the tech world, my question, is there a way to use the starlink mini through the infotainment system for using apps like OnX offroad? I've been to many a spot where I lose signal and my map goes dead, not fun in back country when there's more than one route to choose from.

I think it will help with the cell signal but what about the infotainment signal?
The Starlink Mini has nothing to do with the infotainment screen. It gives your phone satellite internet connection, and your phone connects to the vehicle & display whatever apps running on the big screen.

Your phone is the "brain" for what shows on the screen. Starlink Mini provides internet to your "brain". Pretty simple!

I didn't have time to wait for the Veritas mount to show up so I gambled on an Amazon purchase that actually did quite well. Was mounted the entire trip from TX to NM without a single issue.

Didn't encounter rain but the temps were down in the high 20's and there was a ton of dust from off-roading in the Lincoln National Forest. I just wiped off the acrylic when I got home.

The magnets are very strong and the device fit great across the bumps in the roof. Didn't seem to budge the entire trip.

Would you trust it not to blow off without the roof rack & crossbars ?

I've been putting my Mini in between the sunroof (fully closed). No issue at all. Still get highest speed while driving & parking. I run the power to my 1Kw Ecoflow power station so the Mini is on 24/7.

I won't plan for a permanent solution due to the terminal is being shared with other folks in my household when needed. This works for my case!

This is what I have been doing too. I added 4 little rubber pads to the corners so it doesn't rattle. Works great as I only use the Starlink in the 4R on occasion and this is cheap.

Have the power cable running into the rear hatch and then into my Jackery Explorer 1000. That powers the fridge and the Starlink for many hours without issue. And then I have the Jackery plugged into the car and it charges it while I'm driving.
