So I live Minnesota and the past week, we got some really cold temps. -18° for the low. There was a loud squeaky noise in front driver side. Everytime the 4runner would run over bumps or cracks on the road, it would squeak pretty bad. I thought with the cold temps, it was the dash making the noise. But if it was the dash, it would make a rattling noise like something was loose than a squeaky noise. Im leaning towards suspension/bushing components. As of right now, the temps are back in the 20's and the squeaky noise has disappeared. I scheduled an appointment with the dealership but with the squeaky noise gone, they'll tell me they can't diagnose something thats not making any noise. Has anyone experienced this with their 4runner? 2025 trd sport. All stock.

I've experienced this! I certainly don't live in negative temps (I'm in CA) but I've noticed a squeek/rattle in the rain. It seems to only happy on sharper, but still small, bumps rather than over something like a speed bump.

It’s been-30 to -40 here in Fairbanks Ak for a couple weeks and yes, the bushings are groaning, brakes are squealing and axles are grinding. It'll stop when it warms up. Hopefully.

dont rule out interior plastic rubbing.

had it happen on our 2016 tacoma front right passenger speaker grille rubbing the a-pillar

2018 tundra rear passenger seat rubbing against the corner c-pillar

2025 4runner, auto boards deep sounding squeak as they extend/retract (i am thinking it just needs proper lube)

stuff happens in extreme cold. my '99 4runner brakes -do not work- at
all below -10 degrees for the first push. I need to pump brake at least
once then they work fine. and only below -10, above -10 they are fine.

I once rented a car in MPLS for three days to get some work done
and it was -18 one frosty morning when I got in it to drive to this gig...

it decided to start so that was OK...I barely warm it up
since it's a rental and I don't baby it like my own stuff...

so I start and hit the road and when I activated the turn signal
with my frosty gloved hand the turn signal stalk snapped clean off.

when I returned the car to the rental place at the airport they didn't
care and didn't charge me...said...'meh, plastics break once in a while here in MPLS
when it's super cold'

I'll never experience negative temps where I live, but if you need a good dry lubricant for plastic, etc., look at 3M Silicone Lubricant 08877. I've use it to address squeaks and similar rubbing-induced noises on door seals, hinges, and plastic trim on some of my other vehicles (as well as garage door tracks, etc.)
